Hi girls, i have been having "tightenings" I thought were braxton hicks from friday.

On sunday I was taken to hospital by my mum as they were like period pain and actually made me cry. They put me on the monitor for babys heart beat and the contraction monitor stays at "20" they said they are braxton hicks and the contraction monitor should not go up to much after a while i had a few more tightening and the monitor went up to 28-29 for a while it didnt hurt as such was just uncomfortable.

I stayed in for most of the night, when everything had calmed down they gave me an internal to make sure i was not dilating or losing any fluid everything is ok thank god. They wanted me to stay in but i managed to get home (I have a 5 year old daughter and now i'm a single mum so wanted to get home to her) I promised the doctor if anything happened i would go back.

I had a follow up appointment at the hospital yesterday to be monitored everything was fine and the contraction line was dead straight this time thank god.

I'm just a bit worried as the baby is not due for ages, has anyone else had proper contractons early or do you know anyone that has? Did they/you go full term?

Love to hear back from you please. Kasey xxx

I have read they do start from 30 weeks and someone in this forum also was in labour from 30 weeks up to the end. I aint no exspert on this but i am sure i did read its your body getting ready . Glad your ok though and hoe it holds in there for a good while.

didnt want to read and run hun, havent had experiance with this was just being nosey, i hope everything is ok for u x

I am not sure either but I do hope all is OK for you!

Not sure hun , But i hope u get to that lovely 40 week stage :) . xx .

im not sure, think u need the third tri'ers, they will be about your stage xxx

Sweetie, I don't know who said that to you about it going up to "X" amount on the contraction monitor. It depends how tight the strap is around you, whether you're sitting down or standing up etc and what no the contraction monitor is on before contractions start. They were misleading you and are mostly used to check regularity as they're not very reliable foe how srtong contractions are etc. If you tense your tummy with the strap around you or wriggle and sit up then it goes up too.

If they thought they were labour contractions they wouldn't have let you home....saying that, Dr's and midwives don't know everything so just be aware and time them if they get stronger, painful or more close togeather.

I've been in prem-labour with all my children but also had false alarms too and regular contractions caused by urine infections etc.

If in doubt....check it out babe. Even if someone has already said you're fine...if you're really still worried if you get contractions again, it's better to be safe than sorry and get checked out honey:hugs:

Awww no not had this i agree with katiensam about the third triers, we won't be much help here, i reeeaally hope it doesn't happen again for you hope your ok. xxxxxxx

I had these tightenings and actually thought they were contractions as they were agony got the midwife round and she said they werent as my tummy was soft! Im sure the hospital wouldnt of let u out if they thought they were!
