Anyone know how to do this without actually downloading Microsoft Word?

My CV is a txt file and the jobsite i want to upload it says it needs to be a word file

Help!

If you have a Live account (and if not, get a free one), then look into the Word Web App via Microsoft SkyDrive. You should be able to copy and paste your CV into a new Word document that way and then download the Word document to your computer (for you to use wherever you need it).

More on that here: Using Office Web Apps in SkyDrive

If you google "convert .txt to word" there are loads of websites that you just upload the original and it gives you back a converted file to save on your pc

Not sure if it works on .txt files but I know on my old laptop I only had Microsoft Works and if you needed it saved as a word file you could chose save as and click on the option for word. Not sure if that's any good to you though!

Otherwise google docs is great I find.
