I am 20 weeks and I think that I am having twins. When I asked at the sono's, they only checked right beside my baby, not above or anything.I can feel some pain by rib, and I am convinced it was kicking there yesterday, while I could feel my lil girl right above my bladder. Also, my babygirl is primarilly all the way to my right side. Her head is just about above the crease of my thigh where it meets my leg(about an inch). Also this time I am sticking out right beneath my boobs, all the way down, which I didn't have until late pregnancy last time. Anyone else get misdiagnosed until later? It is common for our area. One woman didn't find out until her third sono at 28 weeks that it was triplets!

At 20 weeks your uterus is at belly button height, with twins it's a little above that, mine is about 2.5 inches above-nowhere near my ribs yet I'd be more inclined to go get checked out and rule out infection and if all is clear take it as growing pains I had those a while back, weren't very comfortable but as needs must! You could always have a private scan if you are really that sure but at 20 weeks unless you have quads in there you won't be feeling anything by your ribs. Also it's hard to miss twins when you get to 20 weeks as they are generally fighting and scrabbling for space. Good luck!

no lol i dont think a baby could hide at 20 weeks lol

Yeah, i doubt you would miss a twin at 20 weeks. It's pretty obvious, even at 12 weeks.

You would have to be very unlucky/lucky to go though all your scans and see only 1 baby however it is not impossible! There was a case about it not long ago where baby #2 was acting as baby #1 shadow and this was only found out from further testing as they thought baby #1 had an irregular heart beat, but I would say its a less than 1% chance

It possible but unlikely. I remember reading about one woman who didn't know she was pregnant until she was in labour, they delivered one baby and then someone said "theres something else in there" and the second baby was tucked up into her ribs.

Thats so funny as i was convinced thru 1st tri i had 2 in there. Was picking up what i thought was an echo on doppler and ms was so bad, i thought that might explain it. Anyway, had 2 early scans which showed 1 baby and i still thought they might have it wrong but by 12 week scan i had to accept it was just 1.

Altho i had let it cross my mind again recently cos my uterus is sitting quite high, i've got a def bump and i'm only 15 weeks with my 1st. Think it might just b a big baby like dh was lol xxx

My MW said last week that my baby girl has her butt plonked in the middle of my pelvis with her feet down to the bottom left (my left) and head and arms at the top right. So I can feel her literally all over my tummy. Maybe its same for you and this is what you are feeling??

Wow, I am glad everyone else has good doctors at discovering twins! Unfortunately, in our area, it is a common occurance. Like I said before, my friend had 3 previous scans, and finally at 20 weeks, they found twins, but at 28 found a triplet! Also, our doc recommended us to drive two hours for a better scan and hinted that the area sonographers weren't that good. Hmmmm...we will have to wait and see. Also, my unterus, as the sonographer was surprised to see, is two inches below my belly button. I feel my baby right above the crease in my leg(an inch or two above and all across that portion. So she is low. I felt something at my rib region-some kind of pain-and was wondering if it was somehow a kick-could have been a nerve? Guess we will see:)

It certainly will b interesting go find out if any sonographers have it wrong and mothers' intuition was correct all along xxx

Where are you in the world ... ?

I'd love to have a secret twin hiding in me!! Doubtfull though :(

where do you live??? It your scans are that poor not to pick up a baby at 20 weeks then i would be very worried. especially by the fact the whole point of scans is to pick up on things being wrong.

Triplets do get lost, so thats totally understandable. But I cant see how on earth a twin can be missed at a 20 week scan, my first scan was 7 weeks and that was plain to see.m

Where do you live????

The lady opposite my sister ended up in labour with twins even though she was told there was only one so it is possible

Thanks all, I live in America. Thanks to the one who sent me the link where woman wrote in as it is a common occurance I see :)

I am going to let them know at my next appt.

So the countdown continues to find out! I am still convinced. My hubby asked the doc if it was possible b/c we had a scan at 18 weeks. The tech didn't search like I wanted her to. I still have this overwhelming feeling that there are two!
Anyway, the doc said they wouldn't be able to hear it on doppler heart beat. He said a baby could be on one side and you hear the heartbeat on the other side b/c the sound waves bounce all around in there. I want another scan to prove one way or the other. If I don't get a scan, I am going to ask them to feel my belly right after I give birth to the first baby. There are a ton of reasons why I feel like this. I heard another woman feel like this recently too and when people hear it-they either think I am joking or just being silly. Can't wait to find out. I will be happy with one, just feel like there is two lol!

Ah, bless. I just really hope you're not disappointed if you find out there's only one!

Nope, won't be at all:) Someone who does reiki even felt my bump and said there is another presence too.

Could just be feeling her and an angel? Or a protector? Or maybe just feeling another after this perfect treasure too. Either way, I am over the moon:cloud9:

I guess anything is possible! Though in saying that when I had my early scans you could not miss the two babies at all, saw them as soon as the screen was loaded up......though I do find it funny that people always think there is one more in there! I know I am having twins but now I am worried I am actually having triplets and that one has been hiding lol

How high are you measuring? at 20 weeks you should be at your belly button. I am 15 weeks and I am at my belly button already. I am unsure if people measure normal when having twins but I always heard they measured larger.
