Copper coil/IUD

I had mine fitted 21st July (4w4d post pregnancy) and when the nurse asked me if I had my period yet, I said no. She gave me an odd reaction, I then stated that I was breastfeeding and thought that could delay it, and again she gave me an odd reaction. Went ahead with the coil anyway, slight discomfort due to episiotomy but no cramps or anything after (which I was dreading). I was spotting and bleeding for a whole 3 weeks after, and it only just stopped, then turned into orange/yellow discharge up until today which is now brown discharge (on the pad) but blood when wiping. Is this my period returning or could I have some reaction to the coil? I'm 8 weeks post today.

That nurse is weird, she expected you to have had your period less than 5 weeks after giving birth? Good grief, I'd only just stopped my postpartum bleeding by then! I am pumping a partial milk supply as DD can't latch, and it still took me over 7 months to get AF back (much to my mum's annoyance, lol, she got hers back at 6 weeks pp while ebf my brother...). It's quite common to not get it for months, especially if bfing! How ridiculous.

Anyway...I had a copper coil put in at 3.5 months pp and I spotted for about 3 weeks off and on. So it could just be that...I had some pretty bad cramping too, as it all settled into place, but as I say, I didn't get my AF back til well after the coil had been placed. At 8 weeks pp, it's possible that you're one of the unlucky ebf-ers who gets AF back early. Only way to tell is to wait, I think.

So I wasn't talking a load of cack to her then lol. She made out as if I was stupid. I didn't get AF until about 9 weeks after having DD1 and I was FF.

My post bleeding stopped about 2 weeks after birth, and changed to spotting for 2 weeks and the coil goes and starts me off again as the spotting was clearing up! It was/is my period had some heavy bleeding and no pain for 3 days and barely anything all day today but started again during the evening with some minor cramping. I'm cramping up more 10 mins after feeding DD on me.

In a way I'm glad it is my period so I have a rough idea when my next cycle is due.
