So, my hubby and I decided to stay team yellow. However, today I had a follow up scan and the tech didn't ask if we knew the sex. She was busy looking around the cord...possibly lower when I thought i saw a potty shot and a penis. I told her to let me know if i needed to look away, as we don't want to know. She told me she would and that i was fine to keep looking. I guess my question is, "has anyone ever thought that they saw a penis, but it ended up being just the cord?"

I had the same thing happen on Monday at my scan. Sonographers came back in to take 1 last shot and it was a full body image that showed us his special bits. We both looked away quickly, it was undeniably a big ol' third leg. Baby's legs were splayed apart and bam, there it was clear as day. My DH refuses to talk about it saying it prob was the umbilical and all else is speculation but I know this baby is a boy. It's ok, we'll still put our fav girl names out there before birth just in case but, I'm sure that was a big Scottish penis that I saw!

It was so quick and she didn't even flinch when i said something. I'm just confused. I have two boys already, so I feel i should know for sure if i saw a penis or not. This baby has been super stubborn and really curled up or had it's legs crossed between two ultrasounds...each one lasting 1-1.5 hours. Gah! This team yellow stuff is hard!

Big Scottish penis

We're team yellow too, and DH left our 20 week scan 100% sure he saw a big Scottish penis. I told him that the surprise isn't ruined, that it may have been the cord. However, my intuition has been strong (since way before the scan) that we're having a boy. I'll be seriously surprised if its a girl!

We thought we saw something with our dd...turns out we were wrong. This time when we went for a private scan we both were convinced we saw boy bits. Watched the DVD back at home and could see why the ultrasound tech told us to look at the babys eye when she did. We decided at 20 weeks to ask and sure enough, it's a boy! I didn't get to see anything to confirm at that scan, just the techs word for it! I'd say it wasn't chunky like the cord and in a side view seemed to stick up!! Interesting to hear if what you think you saw is really there!! :-)

We had our 20 week scan and we wanted to know, the scan showed what I thought was little boy parts, until the women said we where having a little girl and that what I was seeing was the babies cord, so you could still be team yellow :)

I mistook the cord for a "big Scottish penis" at two scans!

At our nt scan (14+2) baby was in a bad position so the sonographer showed us lots of things on baby. She was showing us feet and legs when I saw what I thought was a "big Scottish penis" so I asked and she told me it was the cord! She then got a proper potty shot and asked if we wanted her to take a guess, so obviously we thought it must be a boy and I was mega surprised when she said that she "can't see any obvious boy bits" - so no big Scottish penis! - she wouldn't confirm or deny it for sure but she made a guess at girl.

Then we had a private gender scan at 16+6, our baby had the cord right up between their legs so we had to go away and come back. My partner was convinced that it wasn't a cord (he was thinking big Scottish penis!) but when we went back there were three lines and the earlier ultrasound was correct in predicting girl.

The cord looked as though it disappeared so it really did look like a penis, but when we got a full on potty shot at both scans I saw three lines and no penis. She did ask us to get it confirmed at 20w scan to be sure because the baby is very modest with hiding her junk!

I thought my daughter had a penis but it was her cord

We had the same experience at our 20w scan. As the sonographer was taking baby's thigh measurement we thought we saw a penis. However, when we asked afterwards whether the sonographer had seen baby's gender or not, she said she hadn't noticed. She had known we were team yellow so I think she would have told us to look away.

I guess we'll find out in 7 weeks or so.

At my anatomy scan the tech actually said people mistake the cord for the penis all the time. She actually pointed it out to us (we are team blue) and I can see how people would make that mistake.

Thank you everyone. This baby has been very modest as well, which is why I was shocked to think I could see it that easily. Baby had its legs crossed for an hour and a half first ultrasound and wouldn't get into a good position second scan.
Guess I'll find out in four months or so!

I had a scan at 24 weeks and very much saw my sons ball but you couldn't really see the penis at that point, although the tech pointed it out, it looked more like a dot. We knew though. I'd say it's more than likely it was the cord.

Yes! After she was born it took me about 2 months to think of her as a girl as I was positive I saw a penis and she would be a boy lol

On our 20 wk scan today , twin 1 was confirmed as a defo boy, his boy parts were very obvious and I could see it whilse she was doing the measurements before she even looked for the gender , but on twin 2 , the cord was between legs and it had its legs crossed so she couldn't tell.
At our 16w scan the sono said both boys but she did have difficulty getting a good view on twin 2 also, so I told the sono yesterday and she turned around and said I would hold off buying blue on this one!
So now I'm like ????
When I told her we was told 2 boys she didn't look convinced and said wait till your next scan which is in 4 weeks time. How can I wait that long lol and I must admit I didn't see any obvious boy parts during the measurements on twin 2 unlike twin 1 , but maybe because of the cord between the legs?? I dunno, maybe I'm reading into this too much lol xx
