Hi

Just watched Coronation Street and it brought back the tears and pain I felt going through the same thing with my DS.

He was born at 31 weeks and at 2 days weighing 3lb 14oz and also had to be taken off his milk and ventilated due to necrotising enterocolitis (NEC). The antibiotics didn't work and he had to have surgery.

At times we had to prepare ourselves for the worst and I feel like I aged 10 years during our 5 weeks in NICU's.

My DS is now 8 months old. A happy little boy with great strength of character. He brightens the day of everyone who meets him. NICU is a difficult time and coming out the other end has made me stronger. Wishing everyone the best who has been through or is still going through this tough journey x

I went through the same thing with my first baby. Unfortunately my little boy lost his life to the horrible NEC so it makes me mad when they portray it on programmes and the babies have dramatically quick recovers there are also so many difficulties that the babies go through even if they do recover from NEC and having any operations so we will see if they cover any of that side of things such as stoma reversals, other complications as a result of having NEC etc
