I am planning on just using water and cotton wool to clean baby to begin with, then maybe moving on to a little drop of baby bath and sensitive wipes after a little while, but I hate cotton wool balls! The fluff goes everywhere and I find them a nightmare! Do cotton wool pads work just as well?

Yep, the pads are great, especially for poo! lol The balls are just too small to be much good i have found.

I recommend the Huggies Wipes. My 2 girls have sensitive skin, and even the johnsons and pampers sensitive wipes irritated them. The huggies ones are just like water and cotton wool though.

Hope this helps xxx

I have stocked up on cotton pads - they work much better than the balls (especially for baby boys!) and like Loobybump says - they are less hassle when dealing with poop!

At antenatal we were advised against wipes for the time being due to most brands being too harsh for new baby skin - water and a cotton pad will do the job just as well and wont irritate sensitive skin. :flower:

ive got balls and pleats, pleats for bums and balls for eyes and face especially the crusty eyes x

i used pads..... cotton wool balls used to get caught on my nails n any dry skin or nappy rash... pads seemed softer. x

i brought the large pack of cotton wool which you pull of urself, but while i was having a sort out i did find some of the flat ones which i brought for my eldest to remove her make up but she never used it so i nicked them aswell lol

The pads for me also with the perforations.
I personally hate cotton wool and cannot use it myself, gaggy and squeaky when wet!

yer dunno what it is but cotton wool makes my teeth feel funny..... im not chewing it lol just by lookin at it lol x

i have a cotton wool phobia, so trying to get over this before baby's here! i've managed to go down the aisle with them in at the supermarket & bought some pads (then hid them at the bottom of my basket so i didn't have to see them!
all this talk of cotton wool is making me feel ick! i knew i shouldn't have looked at this thread! Lol
xx

We have been using pads or balls and don't notice a lot of difference really other than you use more if it is a ball as they don't clean off as much poop as a pad does. The health visitor said for particularly bad nappies to dunk his bottom in the sink with just water in it, it really works as all the poop just floats off! Wouldn't do it every nappy change though as it will dry out their skin.
