Coughing in pregnancy - any harm??

Can persistent hard coughing in pregnancy cause any harm to the baby?? I think I have flu, or possibly a chest infection from choking on stomach acid from my reflux in the night - I keep getting really violent coughing fits that give me sharp pains in my abdomen. I'm worried that one of these coughing fits might dislodge my placenta or break my water or otherwise cause some harm to the baby. I feel like this would be a ridiculous question to ask my midwife but I am really worried. Does anyone here know the answer? Trying not to cough as it's giving me really sharp pains in my bump, but I have a lot of green mucus on my chest that I need to shift
