i went to see the midwife on wednesday when i should have been 11 weeks pregnant. i havent had my scan yet so i do not now for sure how far i am.
she tried to find the heatbeat on the doppler and couldnt find it :(
she told me not to worry as it was most probably tucked away. but i cant help but worry. :(
is something wrong. i keep thinking i have had a missed miscarrage.

My midwife wouldn't even try until I was 16 weeks as she said it was really hard to get one before that without searching for ages.

11 weeks is really early hun, try not to worry.

If you'd had a miscarriage hun, you'd be bleeding, but in some cases that's normal.
My mother in laws last child, when they tired finding her heartbeat they couldn't, she kept moving around which made it harder!. I wouldn't worry, just try again, just because you didn't hear it that one time, doesn't mean the baby doesn't have a heartbeat! :hugs:

Hey Sweetie :flower:

I have read so many posts on here about people scaring the life out of themselves through not being able to hear the HB using the doppler only to hear that their scan was perfect.

Please try to do as the midwife says (I know it's not easy) but I'm sure everything will be just fine :hugs: x

hun go for a private scan or buy yourself a doppler to reasure yourself maybe?? xox

Not to put a downer on things but i really like people to know info on things, I had a mmc and didnt bleed for 6 weeks. But thats not likely the case! Its most likely just way too early. My midwife wont even try until 16 weeks and even then she warns that its possibly too early to hear anything. I just had my 25 week one and she still said it might be difficult to find. Im sure all is ok :)

My friend ( who is a midwife) tried 4 times over the space of a week to find mine... She made me promise not to freak if she couldn't pick it up as it's so difficult before 14 weeks while it's still in your pubic area! I was 11 weeks when we got it, I was freaking so much , convinced I'd mmc'd again but it was fine! I've now rented my own , had it since yesterday and used it 5 times up to now ( yes I'm addicted) only 3 times I've picked it up, depends where it's positioned. Don't worry, I spent a whole week freaking for nothing, little monkey was hiding all along!

I think that your midwife what quite irresponsible to be honest for even attempting to find it at 11 weeks!!

You seriously could do without this kind of worry at your stage and she should have avoided putting you through it..

I am sure everything will just be fine :D When is your scan?

xx

Well, i forgot to add missed miscarriage in there, but truth is, if her midwife thought it was that then she would surely get her to do a scan. Missed miscarriages aren't as common as miscarriages!, so there not as talked about, the most common worry for women is a miscarriage!, not really a missed one.

Yeah thats why i said likely not the case. Even still i think the midwife shouldnt have tried as it causes worry thats not necessary.

thankyou so much ladies for your support xxx

and im sure that on the 24th you will be all smiles. 11 weeks is very early to try pick up a HB. Im surprised ur m/w even tried. Hope u can relax til then xx

I was 11 weeks at my first scan and she couldn't find the heartbeat, but we saw it on the screen!! I saw it twice actually b/c I went in a week later due to a tiny bit of spotting. So, please don't worry!! Your baby is soo tiny, and if he/she is tucked away, they aren't going to find it.

I don't want to throw a scare in here either, but you don't always bleed with a miscarriage. And yes, missed miscarriages are quite common; I've had 4 myself.

That being said, 11 weeks is early. I have convinced my Dr to try at 10 weeks with 3 of my pregnancies, and we've heard at 10 weeks everytime. But that is me, and I am tall with not alot of abdominal fat. If you have a bit of extra podge on your stomach, it will muffle it quite a bit. My friend is quite heavyset, and they didn't hear hers until around 14 weeks or so.

Position of baby is also key. It could be hiding towards your back making it hard to pick up.

I think it also depends on the person using the doppler as well... Some people seem to be more adept at picking them up than others. After my TVC with Devon (14.5 weeks), I asked for a doppler and the nurse told me there was no point as we wouldn't hear anything. I fought with her, she brought in a mat nurse, she brought a doppler, BAM, there was the heartbeat! Taught that nurse a thing or two...

Main thing, don't worry. More than likely, everything will be fine.
