Council in a Big FAT Lie - Rant

After 6 months in temporary accommodation Tattie's housing needs have STILL not been assessed .... in other words they are housing her but haven't yet decided if she is entitled to be housed

Sheer bl**dy madness - it's just a case of stamping the paperwork, but until they do she isn't able to 'bid' on (or even view) vacant council properties, and will struggle to get them to approve Housing Benefit on a private rental.

So.... I rang them and after they had attempted to fob me off by contradicting themselves, blaming someone who left 5 months ago blah, blah, blah I got really angry

Now I don't shout when I get angry LOL ... so in a very calm voice I pointed out to them that their incompetence in managing a simple administrative task was costing the local Council Tax Payers (which includes me) in excess of £300 a month - in just this one case!

As they had already informed me that this level of mal-administration (my word not theirs LOL) was the norm I suggested that the local papers might be very interested in informing the local CT payers as to just how much of their money was being wasted by Council employees..... At this point they suddenly became very anxious to sort the problem out and promised that the senior Housing Officer would phone me back the following day (as she had already gone home that afternoon).

Well today - after receiving no phone call yesterday - I rang the 'support worker' (now there's an oxymoron if I ever heard one!!! Grrrr) and informed him that I had received no phone call. He put me on hold and when he came back to me he had the following excuse:

"She did ring you yesterday, but was told that you were at lunch" .... well I laughed at him!! - I work in an office by myself that is open from 8.30am to 5.30pm (although I didn't leave yesterday until about 6pm) ... I don't GET a lunch break and if I don't answer the phone there is no-one else to do it.

He seemed very subdued once I had explained this fact to him - especially as I can back it up with proof.

I'm really tempted to take this further .... they just lie to people and think that their word will always be taken against anyone else's - it makes me so MAD

I've left a message for the Chief Housing Officer to phone me on Monday and am going to make an official complaint in writing ... I've also phoned both mine and Tattie's local councillors who are going to look into things for me and have emailed both of our MPs.

In the past I have had problems with Council staff swearing black was blue that they have said or done things when I know that they haven't, but there has been nothing I can do about it because I couldn't prove it ... this time I can and I'm going to make a stand for both us and all the other people that they do this to as a matter of routine.

Ahhhhh!! These people that work @ the council have a nice Cushy home too live in, they don't care about people in awkward situations. For example: I called my local council too talk about a scheme I'd heard about, I got thru after waiting for about 20 mins to a really rude stuck up woman, she was trying to say the scheme didn't exist which I knew it did bcuz my mate is on it, no matter how hard I tried to explain what I'd heard she would refuse to listen and was treating me like I was the dumb one, when I explained I had a 2 year old and I was pregnant and needed help she was talking to me like a mug!! So complain I wish I did. Xx

I fully believe this as I used to work for the Debt Collection part of the council and I used to be told by boss what to say, like to fob people off ect. Usually it was bullshit
