Just wondering if anyone has recieved any information about what council tax they are paying from april onwards. We have had out two month break now, and haven't heard anything about how much we will be paying each month come april.
We moved in last febuary, so this is our second year of paying it, and was wondering if you usually hear whats happening for the next year, or it just automatically renews the direct debit and carries on.

Sorry to start such a boring thread!! :dohh: I did try and ring the council earlier, but the queue was so long I gave up!!

Thanks girls. xxxx

We got ours last week and it's gone up approx £4 a month.

Ours has gone up to £149pm. I think it was £144 before.

Sounds like I should hear this week then, thank you all. xxxx

£4 for us too, and my poor granny!

Weve not had our letter yet...but if everyone elses has gone up by about £4per month I can expect my council to put ours up by about £24 per month :dohh: lol

You'll get a letter through within the next few days i imagine, ours has gone up £6 a month.... b*stards... all the do is collect the bins fortnightly. What a complete waste of money

got ours and our monthly payments have gone down from £96 per month to £88 :happydance:

got ours few days ago!!!! :growlmad i resent paying it.

Ours has gone up by £3 a month (well £1.64 for the first month!!) x

we got to pay £1035 ayr think its shocking for just basicly emptying the bins

lol, and your police force, your schools, street lighting, fire service, youth centres, child centres, re-developments, bus stops...i dont think i need to list everything!!

we still havent had our letter  not looking forward to it to be honest coz it was over £1400 last year

My letter arrived the morning after I posted this, sadly!! :p
Gone up for £4 this year for us too.

I got mine yesterday. As a coincidence, Friday is bin day. And once again, I didn't get mine emptied. I'm so mad we had a lot of problems with the snow over Christmas and New Year didn't get our bins emptied for 6 wks, the council wouldn't clear our road or even leave us any grit in our box. I might ring them and ask for an itemised bill lol!

my postman brought bad news today...£1560 this year
Our parish council tax has gone up 30% from last year  but overall a 2.9% increase (dont know what that works out as in £'s)

we got outs about 2 weeks ago its just the same as i was paying..so cont complain about that really hate paying it tho, tho ive been lucky cause feb and march were the months off obviously and the baby is here in april so had some spare money to buy him more things xx

I'm glad someone pointed this out

GOT MINE THE OTHER DAY AND IT STATED WE'D PAY 1 X 1347 .. oops caps .. i thought that looked odd and rang them and they where all oh yeh lol sorry our mistake you should be payin 10 payments not 1 .. that would have seriously screwed us over if thy'd taken all that out in one lot.

ALSO im abit miffed .. me and my partner moved into our house July 2009 .. and we have payed since then 7 payments of £££ which is basically the amount for a FULL tax year .. i really dont understand it, why did we have to pay for a full year when we only lived in the house for half a year (before that we where with parents/staff accomodation) surely we should just pay for half the year we been living alone as a couple in a new house

This is hard to answer without actually seeing you bill hun but the chances are you have been charged from the time you moved into the property but they have spread the payments until the March to keep them as low as possible. If you have a look at your bill it will probably give you a figure for the year and a figure to pay from the date you moved in, just remember if your tenancy/ resposibility for the property started before you moved in you could well be charged from the time you took the property on. HTH PM me if you need anymore help xx
