Exactly *how much* does it matter if you were to accidently put 1 too many / 1 too few scoops in the bottle.? Cant believe how hard it is to concentrate on counting to 6!

Also, do you think the manufacturer accounts for the amount of powder that gets stuck on the scoop from the steam off the water.... Or do you compensate slightly by putting an extra pinch in?

i used to put the scoops in all the bottles & then use 1 bottle to measure the water & pour into the other bottles..

that way if i counted wrong i could pour the powder back in & the scoop only got steamed up on the last bottle.

I don't know what the answer is, but I think I have done it once or twice and I'm only counting to 4!

KayBea - genius.... Why didn't I think of that? Baby brain, lol!

Leesy - glad it's not just me!

I think ive done it loads of times. I always lose count!

I always do this lol. My lg seems to be ok ;) x

I think ive done this a couple of times too but im sure the worse that could happen is that lo will throw it up and he does that sometimes even when it is the right amount of scoops!

I think it says on the tin to put the water in first then the power.

I used to measure out the powder into a powder dispenser, that way if I went wrong I could start again. Also is stopped the wet scoop from the steam & made night feeds so much easier!

Just grab a bottle pre filled with water, add the powder, shake and heat! Voila!

It's ok as a one off by mistake it's only if you do it repeatedly over time that it becomes a problem. One too many is way worse than one too little. One too many gives them unbalanced amounts of vitamins etc and concentrates the milk making them constipated. One too little just gives them less formula and more water. In summer months if its very hot and my baby usually takes say six ounces, I will put seven ounces of water and six scoops of formula for the two feeds in the hottest part of the day. This way they get a watery more thirst quenching feed, with the same nutrients as normal plus a little extra water for hydration xxx

I did this so many times that I went and got some of the tommee tippee milk pots. I now measure out the right amount of powder into each of them every night so that I always put the right amount in when I make up the bottles. Really handy when out and about too!

The powder dispensers were a must have for me I used them with my son and have ordered some for this time its all pre measured so even when im out I just have the bottles filled with water and dump in the powder and voila I never heated my sons bottles and he didn't care.

I have so much trouble concentrating on anything, the harder I try to think about counting the scoops, the more I start thinking about what to have for tea, or what it would be like to be a ninja :L sometimes OH shouts random numbers at me while i'm counting :L

haha, my ex used to do this.. shout random numbers at me. used to really annoy me. x

I used to measure the powder into a separate pot. I stopped when ds started having 8oz bottles as I could find anything handy enough that either held the powder or spilled it everywhere. Though I suppose i could just have done 2 lots of 4. Der.... I find it bad enough to count scopps but when you have a toddler who is insistent that it goes 1,2,3,6,7,8 you find yourself questioning who's scale you're counting to.

i have the dr browns formula pitcher, I make six, 5 oz bottles at a time, so i have to count to fifteen everytime i do it! its only once a day though, and i just make sure to concentrate really well. My little guy refuses anything but warm bottles :dohh: So sick of warming them in hot water but dont know if i should invest in a bottle warmer..

Yes, this. Just make sure you give it a good shake after.
