Probably a silly question, but I'm hoping to switch to C&G Comfort, because Chloe's gas is so bad that I think it warrants it. We were on Aptamil until she was 7 weeks, then we switched to the C&G infant milk, because we got it mixed up and thought it was the one for colic (we grabbed the first one we saw that said for newborns :dohh:) so now want to make the switch to Comfort.

I noticed on the pack though, it says you should seek medical advice before using it  Do they put this on every type of formula, or is this one different? I know it has a different blend of fatty stuff to help with colic and constipation, but that doesn't warrant a doctor's visit does it?

I want to do what's best for her, obviously, I'm just worried that if I see a doctor they will shrug it off and tell me to continue on the milk we're on. Nobody seems to be able to tell me what's wrong with LO; she acts like she has colic, and cries with pain for about 20 minutes in the early afternoon when she's trying to fart, but when I tell the HV etc, they just shrug and say "perhaps she just doesn't like farting", and then laughs. Thanks, but that's not very helpful, and my child crying with pain is not funny :grr: She's been like this for about 3 weeks now, and if a change in milk will help, I want to do it.

Ha your HV sounds like mine. I'm just a neurotic first time mother apparently, all babies strain and cry when pooing
I just told the HV when she was weighing her I'd switched to comfort milk and she wasn't really bothered. I certainly wouldn't have made an appointment just to tell them that.
Just be aware that she will poo more on the comfort stuff (but hopefully won't be so distressed with it.) Hope it works for Chloe :flower:

I switched Lucas over to comfort formula about a week ago because he has colic and was terribly constipated. I only noticed that message on the pack after I bought it too, but since it was all I had in I gave it to him without speaking to my doctor or HV. I wasn't too worried, and he's doing much much better on it so it must be doing some good!

mia is on this milk and has been for a while.she had acid reflux and this was recomended by pharmacy.she was on a reflux milk but it made her very constipated so i asked doctor to change her and was told that no milk will help.so i put her on this so rather then reflux and constioation she just had reflux. funny enough the reflux got better too. MUMMY KNOWS BEST. drs dont see your chikd in pain so dont know what it is like.i got told that babys cry!! just be prepared for smelly farts and poos!!!!:dohh:

Thanks ladies. I have an appointment tomorrow, so I will mention it then. Just don't want them to scare me off it if it will help her. I@m not worried about her poohing more. She doesn't seem to even wake up to pooh, which is weird, because her farts cause so much pain, I don't really understand how poohing doesn't cause any, but I'm not about to question it :winkwink:

Did you change your teats? I heard it's thicker, so you may need teats with bigger holes? We currently use the size two Avents. I may just try the ones I have and see how she gets on.

I didn't change the teats, I use Tomee Tippee size one. It comes out a bit slower but he doesn't seem to mind :)

We have used cow and gate comfort since about 5 weeks and have just got on to stage 2 comfort milk.

I had been in discussion with my HV about it when we changed and she was pretty useless. I used it as she had really bad wind issues and lack of poo! Comfort sorted her out as best as she was going to get.

We combined dr browns with comfort (size 3 teats) and it worked a treat.

interesting reading ladies. i was looking at this formula yesterday and weighing up putting LO on it. she was put on gaviscon on tuesday and i know my DD2 got very constipated on it so was wondering about switching milk to help but havent got a visit from HV til 1st july.

I think maybe it may be incase LO has a underlying problem that isnt caused by the milk and probably to cover themselves.

E&L's Mummy; I asked my HV about switching her and they only said that you should only switch if you have to, because the baby needs to get used to it, and they may not take to the new milk too well, but other than that, she said I should make the switch if I felt she needed it.

I have given her her first C&GC feed today, so we will see what happens

well as i thought.....poop was very frim compared to how it was before and i could see her trying to go too, which she hasnt before. will keep an eye on it till see HV but def thinking of switching if this carries on.

hope it works for your little one hun. Ive just switched finley onto comfort milk, the aptamil one, as its been horrendous :( never had it this bad with my other 2 boys

with the teats, he managed to have it with a number 1 avent teat, but ive bought number 2 ones aswell as i also read cos its thicker you might need next teat. But he managed ok with the number 1 avent.

Jen xx
