Was just wondering when the average age is when LO's start to crawl. When we put Jack on his front he moves his legs to try and crawl and lives his head up easily now. He just can't control his arms enough to lift himself. He sometimes manages small movements forwards though which are really gobsmacking lol! :happydance:

I don't know hun but I was wondering the same thing... Seth seems to have really really strong neck muscles already. It really scares me but he holds his head up on his own all the time.

xxx

hehe same here! When the midwife came on the second visit for the heel prick test she commented that he shouldn't have been able to lift his head as high and for as long :D
Although..typical boy was just doing it cuz he wasn't able to see the TV :P

i was wondering that too. i cnt wait till LO starts crawling lol.

All i know is my little cousins baby is 10 months and already starting to walk so as Jack will be 7 months at christmas he maybe crawling before then :)

Awww. You can get those little play things for little ones where they can lie on their belly on a swirly thing so they can push themselves round and play with bits on the mat that comes with it.

I also read the other day that babies can get their neck muscles really strong really quick with a little help from us guys.....They said that when you pick up LO or put LO down to say something again and again while doing it like "up we go" "down we go" and say the same thing each time as they will associate that phrase with knowing they are going up or down and will use their muscles accordingly...............Like a little baby workout each time lol

Not sure how good this is but it kinda makes sense and was really interesting.
Ill be trying it with my LO when he/she eventually decides to come out! :hissy:

Crawling occurs around 6 months or so. It's after they learn to sit on their own well.

Some kids (like my first DD) didn't worry about crawling. Went from sitting to walking :)

lol

Anna was the same - she lifted her head a bit and would make crawling motions from about a week old... She also was able to crawl up my tummy (completely unaided) to latch herself on to my boob (that is when she didn't go too far and end up resting her head in my collar bone lol)

She's now 11 weeks and 6 days old, and tries to crawl whenever she's given half the chance. She'll get frustrated after a while, though because she sets her sights on something and works really hard to crawl towards it... but just ends up going round and round in circles on the spot
