Hi ladies,

Having been TTC for 2 years I feel i'm LTTTC now, I know thats not really that long compared to some ladies on here but I'm starting to feel the TTC forum isn't all that relevant to me now.
Currently undergoing fertility investigations. Had blood tests and DH had a SA.
Got the results of that today and my bloods looked normal and DH has low sperm count Density= 3:1??
Feeling a bit shocked and numb about it tbh, all this time I've been convinced it's me. Irregular cycles and never had a second line on an OPK, it must be me, right?
My GP didnt sound all that certain when I asked him if my blood test said I ovulated? I thought he wanted me to have it on CD21-22 for that reason. But he just replied 'Your blood work was fine.'
He's booked us a fertility specialist appointment for October - jees that feels like a lifetime away.
Also I have a hospital appt on Thurs which says 'GYNAECOLOGY SCAN' with a consultant. Anyone had this before can tell me what it entails?
xx

hiya,

If it's with the NHS, you should have another SA if the first one wasn't perfect. That's the standard procedure.

Your scan should be one to check everything there is present and correct.

:) Good luck and hope your stay isn't long around here. I've just moved to this bit of the forum too.

I went to Boots right away and got him Wellman Conception, maybe try with these for a few months and then ask for a retest? I'm not sure he will want to go through that again, apparently the 'reading material' in the room was slightly suspect lol! Also at the time we weren't sure about days of abstinence because I was on my period it might've been more than the 3-5.
I'm just puzzled cos I've thought it was me that was infertile for a while, and apparently I do O.
Doc said this scan (Thursday) is like an ultrasound type thing and they look at your ovaries? Will they be able to tell me there and then or send results to GP?

Hi, in this scan they will look at your belly and check everything is in the right place and womb lining is right thickness for the time of the cycle. They will want you to have a couple of pints to drink before. If they can't see enough through your belly they may want to do an internal scan. I did this, not as bad as I thought.
Massive warning. When done on the nhs this is the same unit as maternity scans. Meaning the waiting room is full of pregnant ladies. My scan lady actually said to me "are you excited about seeing your baby today" -she hadn't read my notes!
Good luck xx

That's really awful! I hope she was embarrassed when you corrected her!
When we went for DH's SA test we had to walk through the baby wards etc and I said to DH i thought it was a bit heartless. He thought it was fine and that it all fitted in with each other lol. Guess men arent as affected by visual images of their hopes and dreams as women!

not a problem, i run a pub!

Oh, also yes the send results to your gp and the specialist you will be seeing

Lol at running a pub, no problem with the pints there
No she wasn't even bothered by he mistake. Cow.

My other half did the sperm donation on a Tuesday at home, drive frantically to the clinic with it in his pocket, ran into reception, plonked it on the desk, just for her to say "we only take samples on Fridays" "can you throw that away please!" - he was a bit embarrassed, he hadn't read that bit on the paperwork!

Oh gosh that's funny! Poor guys and the things they have to go through eh? lol
Whilst we were waiting for my DH's SA test there was a guy who just finished his and he took his sample to the window which is behind a screen for privacy. They told him to go back to the waiting room and they would collect it from him. Poor guy had to sit there with it in his hand in front of everyone in the waiting room.
The nurses are not the most sensitive of people are they? lol

First time I check this "side" of the forums... We've been trying well over two years now... Went through IUI and laparoscopy... Just found a new doctor in Bulgaria that I love... But he doesn't really want to move on to IVF as I was ready to proceed to... He says he wants to try to heal me... I can only think about getting pregnant as soon as possible though...

Can't decide...

Hi Ali,
What are his plans for 'healing you' then?
What is your fertility problem? Do you Ovulate?
xx

I have Endometriosis stage II but I was diagnosed with unexplained infertility by my American doctors. This new doctor seem to be very different from all others I have contacted. He hasn't seen me personally just yet. My husband translates the "email" appointments and I am meeting him next month. Our plan was to proceed with IVF but he suggested he sees me first and try to find out what is wrong and then treat me in the best way possible.

I think I do ovulate. He prescribed me evening primrose oil and a medicine to decrease my prolactin levels that were too high (although my doctors here didn't seem concern).

Sorry to hear that hun. I'm glad you're finding new hope in your doctor though.
I have my Gyno scan tomorrow, fingers crossed I'm all healthy down there. x

Crossing my fingers to you! Let us know what happens!!
