CSA - family relations

My son will be 3 in December and I've been split up with his dad since he was about 4 months. We haven't spoken in at least 2 years but I've always had a good relationship with his parents and my son sees the family once a week. His dad wasn't giving me any money and as I didn't think he was seeing him I didn't ask for any, but when my son started talking about 'Daddy' I realised he was and tried to arrange regular visits and some child maintenance.
In June this year he started giving me 50 pounds a month. His mum said he knew it should be more but he was paying off some fines and it was all he could afford. It was better than nothing so I didn't complain but I haven't had my money this month and am feeling really stressed as I'm due to give birth to my second child next month and my partner's out of work at the moment so money's tight. I know my first son's dad is working and people tell me all the time that they've seen him out, smoking weed and stuff. People keep saying I'm being too nice and should contact the CSA.but I'm afraid of ruining the relationship I have with his mum. I just don't know what to do!

Perhaps you should have a word with his mum 1st? So what if he has fines that need paying off.. he needs to be paying for his child... & explain if his not going to cooperate with u privately then u will b going to the CSA... as if he knows that he might panic about getting more money taken off him.. I would try and avoid the CSA if possible as their useless.

I know what advice I'd be giving someone in my situation but I'm just such a coward!
