Well i had my baby boy Mason on the 17th Febuary 2012 at 11.07am!!
Birth story....
I was booked in for a sweep on the 16th - 1 week overdue! I went to the mdwife at 1pm she did all the usual checks and listened into his heart rate it was between 180-185bpm! So she decided to send me to the hospital for them to trace it for half hour. She was meant to do my sweep but said if I was going to the hospital then they would do it there for me! Anyway I went off to the hospital at 5pm she put me on the trace and his heart rate was fine back to being around 140
so panic over! I had my sweep and she said I was 1cm dilated! Great news to hear... She said that if it didn't work she would book me in for induction on the monday being 12 days overdue!
So off I went home! When I got back i had a little show bit of blood but I didn't really think much of it! At this stage I was getting a little backache so started to get excited but by about 10pm it started to wear off so I said to OH we may as well go to bed as it didn't look like anything was going to happen! Well at about 3am I got up to go for a wee and felt a little dribble down my leg when I got back in to bed but again I just didn't think much to it! I tried to get back to sleep but couldn't as I the Back ache I had started to come back! I didn't time them as there wasn't much to them! At about 4am I got up to go for another wee and this time decided to put the light on and there in my pants was a browny/green discharge.... I just sat on the toilet when GUSHHHH my waters went! And they just kept gushing! I shouted to my OH that my waters had gone and he jumped out of bed so quick bless him saying 'omg Ur joking'! Lol... I was sat there on toilet with my waters still gushing out I told him to go get me a pad which I put on but there was just no point as there was so much water! I know by the colours of my waters that baby had done a poo inside and they were meconium stained! So I rang the hospital and explained what had happened she told me to go straight in! After this I just sat on the toilet in shock shaking for about 10mins it was like a pure buzz of excitement and nerves! My OH was fab and was hugging me telling me it would all be ok! I got a shower and re checked my hospital bag and off we went! I got to the hospital for 6am... Got shown to a delivery room were they checked my pad and said my waters had deff gone and were heavily stained with meconium! During this time I was starting to feel the contractions which to me we're like mild period pains but all in my back! They put me on the heart trace machine and all was fine but they said I had to wait for the doctor to come and see me to decide what they wanted to do! She was in theatre but she came round about 8am! By this time I was getting stronger contractions she came in and explained that because he had pooed they would probably need to put me on a drip as labour could take a long time with it being my first! And I needed to be having 4 contractions in 10mins! Well She examined me and said I was 3cm!!! I couldn't believe it as although I was having contractions at this stage they wasn't too painful! The doctor left and I was left with 2 midwifes - I have to say they were simply amazing! One was a student who after the birth I found out she was just 20 years old!!! Like I said they were so good to me and my whole birth was made better by the care I received from them
- bk to the birth! I had the drip started and they put it in the lowest one to start with! Luckily for me it worked and my contractions started coming every 2-3 mins and started getting stronger! They were all in my back and not what I expected at all... I was sure he had turned back to back but he hadn't and the midwife reassured me that some people just simply have back labour! They got me towels soaked in hot water and had them on my back! This felt amazing and really helped me! At around 10am I'd still had no pain relief and was starting to think I'd start on the gas an air or get an epi! I had 2 really strong contractions one after another and I said to Gemma my midwife that I was starting to get the urge to push and my contractions were getting too much for me! She asked if I wanted to be examined to see how I was getting along as she Said I was doing great! I happily agreed as I really wanted to be progressing and I don't know what I would of done if she'd have said I was still 3cm! She examined me and to my amazement I was 9cm!!!!! She had a little feel of the cervix and managed to move it so i was 10cm and fully dilated! She was like no wonder u have the urge to push! And with that I was pushing on my next contraction! I'd gone from 3cm to fully in about 2hrs! My second stage of labour was pretty long... I was pushing for about an hour... My little man came out at an angle and he kept sliding back up! Finally I did some big pushes and they said they could start to see his head... His heart rate at this time was dropping though and they said I need to get him out quickly or i would have to have assistance! Well I pushed for my life on the next 2 contractions and my little boy mason was born weighing 8lb 2oz at 11.07am... He is gorgeous and I am so in love!
I ended up being cut and having an episiotomy for me this was more painful than the labour and although she gave me an injection to numb the area I did have some gas and air for the stiches as they bloody hurt!! I have to say gas and air was brilliant stuff and really helped! I was up and about and showered about an hour after my birth and felt amazing!!
So that's it my birth story!! Sorry it's so long.... My labour was around 5.5hours long and I did it all on no pain relief!! And I am the biggest wimp ever! All my family we amazed and especially my OH!! I was so worried about labour beforehand but it just goes to show you never know how your labour will go so try not to worry
I hope my story is a good one for people to read as it really wasn't bad at all and I'd happily do it all over again for my baby! And I know loads of people will tell you that u forget the pain as soon as your baby is handed to you and I have to say its so true!
Good luck to all your ladies who have yet to give birth and thank you too all the ones that have given me advice along the way!!! I love b and b and will miss coming on here!!
Well that's it I'm off now to feed baby Mason!! This has taken all day to write In between feeds and cuddles!!
