atm Alex is constipated and as a result his feeding is suffering. Its a fight to get him to latch on with crying, moving his head away etc.
I can try as much as i can to relatch when hes coming off but sometimes he just wont go back and keeps crying untill i give him a dummy, these times hes only been on 5 mins if that.

i dont want my supply to suffer so what do i do when hes fighting being fed?

hes also not crying to be fed, if i left him hed go too long without being fed.

First, how do you know he's constipated? It's very uncommon for a breastfed baby to get constipated. Is he just not going or is he straining and trying but not able to?

Babies go through spurts of eating tons then they will cut back alot, your body just keeps adjusting to their needs. I never "made" the boys eat, it wa always on demand, so if for a week they went 5-6hrswithout eating then that's what happened, and then on weeks where it seemed like every hour, that's what happened. My supply always kept up with their needs, I'm sure yours would too. I would try not to worry too much about that and just do what he needs and see how it goes

He had two bottles of formula On weds and hasnt pooped since then, we took him to the docs and thats what the diagnosis was.

I wouldnt like to make him eat but after 9 hours of not eating anything i had to do something. If he didnt want it then he wouldnt have eventually taken something no?

Is he possibly sick? It might just be that his tummy is upset from being constipated. Did they give him anything to make him go? In his situation I would probably offer to him more often, just offer the breast, see if he will take some, even a few sips is something, drinking small amounts more often actually keeps them hydrated even better. But that way he doesn't get dehydrated, if you make him eat though, it might upset his stomach more and just make it all worse as far as feeding, pooping, his mood, all that. I hope he is able to go soon and things get back to normal

have you tried a little sugar and water in his bottle? amelie didnt poop for a few days and was worried since she was a once a day girl and i gave her some sugar water and she went a huge massive poo in 24hrs.

The doc gave us some laxative so were trying that and see what happens. Im trying a bit of gripe water in between aswell.

Hes managed a full feed this time, cried at teh book for a few seconds then latched right on.
I agree a little is better than nothing and was glad when he took a few sucks between his all night strike.

What about my supply? Will it be affected by this? im guessing if it is it will rectify itself when hes back to normal again?

Yeah as he starts picking back up it should do the same :) Hope he feels better soon

I imagine so. Your supply wont be regulated properly yet anyway I don't think. Do you still get engorged? If so then him not feeding as much in the last few days probably wont make much difference.

dont worry hun. Yuor boobs will just think he's poorly, which is right. You wont dry up or anything. Just keep offering him boob and try not to worry. I bet ya in 24hrs or so you'll be getting back to normal. :hugs:
