cushie tushies for a chunky monkey?

My son is about 9mths and weighs in at approx 21.8lbs. He is in large ltd itti but i don't really like the fit on him and I like the fit of the bambooty's on him. He is also into clothes 9-12 and 12-18mths.
Would CT's be ok for him?
