Cybex Pallas fix (or similar) users? Group 1-2-3 carseat

Anyone got one of these? Does your LO find the cushion ok to use instead of the harnesses?
I'm not sure how my LO will react to being pinned in with a cushion rather than the harnesses so any experiences gratefully received
