I am a carrier, and my OH was supposed to get tested to see if he is also a carrier. The test for him was $499. We decided that he wasn't gunna take the test because no matter what our baby is ours and we will love it no matter what. I also declined the genetic testing for the same reason. I was however surprised that she asked us if we were to have the test would we terminate the pregnancy. She explained that a good amount of parents will decide to terminate the baby because of defects and what not. I am so saddened by this. I don't know if it was just my emotions or my hormones that made me cry for them....

:( It happens alot
I never got any tests done
Cause No matter what I was having that baby
If i had birth defects or not,
the tests are only 50% right:(
I lost a baby at 30 weeks. My baby boys liver never devolved.
From 15 weeks I knew my baby might never live
But I still did not terminate my baby boy.
But some people just cant see past that.

Sometimes the things they are born with will cause them so much pain when they are born, and will possibly kill them. You have to decide if you are willing to chance putting the baby through that.

I agree I would have the baby no matter what. My cousin has spina bifida and she is paralyzed from the waist down and has been wheel chair bound since she was born. I couldnt see our family without her. I dont believe in terminating a pregnancy cause of birth defects and alot of my views are because of her. I would love my baby no matter what.

We decided against all the tests too, as it wouldn't change our opinion on keeping her.
Everyone thinks differently, some feel they may not be able to cope and I totally understnad it if people do have the tests, but personally I felt no need.

I just feel no need, the tests are always only so many % right. I'll take my chances with my baby. I can and will go through anything when my baby comes to make sure it lives a happy full-filled life!

What about taysachs? I dont remember, but i think it is fatal. Why put them through that?
