Sorry if this sounds like a daft question but....

When I had my first child 11 years ago I didn't really know I was in labour and was pretty quick having him, I went into hospital at 9cm dilated & had him 2 hours later. Looking back now my symptoms were sickness/pooing a lot (sorry if tmi!) I just thought I'd eaten something dodgy. Do 2nd time labours tend to follow suit & have the same symptoms or are the different?

I've asked this question before because i'm interested too... seems it's a real mixture some do some dont ... will be interested to see replies.

Glad I'm not alone! Somebody must know! lol

I am another who wants to know :haha: This thread is going to be full of questions not answers :)

Ha I read this for the answer! I started with pains in my back and a woman I work with said she started with back pain all 3 times, my mum was the same all 3 times. I guess it would be similar but maybe it will be different because it's been 11 years since you last went into labour xx

sorry girls, just waiting on replies 2!x

wouldn't mind if my second goes like your first though "fire". lol

My first I didn't have any symptoms, spent 3 hours out shopping durring the day, came home ate a huge dinner, had my nightly bowl of ice cream layed down and started watching Jay leno when my waters popped...I think I had a 4 hour labor, went in at 6 cm dilated. Second one I had gone to get a sweep and doc said "hunny your baby is about to come out! Get to the hospital!" He did the sweep and sent me on my way, started having contractions and was in the hospital for 2 hours before she was born, think I was 8 cm dilated when I checked into hospital. So, honestly I didn't even have any pregnancy symptoms really, had super short labors but second one did follow suit, did most of my laboring without even realizing it before hand....so if I was you I would look back to your previous pregnancy and just quicken it up!! (I'm honestly a bit scared I won't make it to hospital this time around if they get faster every time!!)

I hope I make it to the hospital too. The contractions came really thick and fast with me and had to call an ambulance...:)

According to my mum all 3 of hers were completely different. One started with period pains four mins apart, with the next she was in for induction and started pooing a lot and when they examined her she was 10cm and baby came out 50mins later, with third she lost her plug and then pains started within the hour.

Mine started differently.

My first contractions started in the night and was in latent labour for 2 days before it became established was in labour properly for just over 6 hours.

My second my waters broke in the middle of the night no contractions and was booked in for an induction contractions started the day before my planned induction and she came 4 hours later. x

We're scared that we aren't goimng to make it to hospital as we live 40-60 mins away (depending on traffic) plus I've got to have anti biotics whilst in labour due to a previous heart complaint, my midwife advised me to go to hospital by ambulance as least they have the facilities to deliver!
