My 2 year old has had a dairy allergy since she was a baby. The only clue I had that she had an allergy was eczema and occasional hives if a dairy product came in contact with her skin.

My 10 month old has (for the past 4 days) had diarrhea and has thrown up about 4 times. He is breastfed and I have eaten a larger amount than usual of ice cream the past few days.

I want to add that my husband started off with a stomach bug about 2 weeks ago, I then got it a few days later and our 2 year old got it a few days after I did.

Opinions please, ladies. Allergy, or did he finally get the stomach bug that was going around our house? I do eat dairy usually on a daily basis and it didn't seem to affect him in the past..

Has he ever had dairy directly? Milk in food or yoghurt or butter etc? If he's been ok with dairy directly in his diet I think it would be unlikely he has an allergy.

If he's never had dairy but you have recently had enormous amounts compared to your usual it could be that he has an allergy but has only just been exposed to a level high enough for him to react to.

Reacting to dairy through breast milk is actually quite rare and shows a high level of sensitivity, but it does happen. Hope it's just one of those things and not an allergy as they are a pain to manage :flower:

It could be the stomach bug, but unfortunately stomach bugs can also bring about allergies. You could wait & see if he improves. My son has cmpa & his symptoms were all GI based. He was in a lot of pain, cried a lot etc. x

We took him to the allergist on Monday and he does NOT have a dairy allergy, yay!

On the other hand we had our daughter rechecked and her reaction was worse than it was a year ago. I am still hopeful that she will grow out of this though..
