I will try and keep it as short as I can, but I apologise if it is long.

After being sent for a growth/positioning scan by my mw on 12/12/13 the consultant told us we needed to get the baby out ASAP. As she had stopped growing. She gave me a sweep (it bloody hurt but I was very tense), and was told to return at 8:00pm.

We were shown to our room by our midwife and she told me she would put the pessary in at around 9:00. She came back and used prostaglandins (weird looking tape thing) and told us it could take 24 hours. They put me and baby on monitors as my blood pressure had been very high for a couple of weeks and they needed to keep an eye on it.
At 11:30 I told my OH to go home and rest he was just putting his coat on as my belly made a loud popping noise. I stood up and my waters broke on the floor. We buzzed for midwife (a different one) she came and confirmed it, and she said she was surprised it happened so quick with it being my first baby.
I started getting contractions a little later and was given paracetamol to help ease the discomfort. At 2:00 I was offered pethadine but a few mins later the mw came in and said dr wasn't happy with my bp or baby's heart rate so they were sending me for a section.
After receiving the epidural and being prepped I was then told baby was gettin better so they would leave me for a couple of hours. At 7:30 a student midwife and older mw came in and told me I was 6cm dilated. I was gutted. They kept telling me theatre was busy but I was next to go down.
They topped the epidural up at around 10:30, and at 11:00 the dr who originally sent me for the induction came in and said my bp was worrying 140/105 and baby was very distressed. So she was going to speed up my contractions with a hormone drip, at 11:30 there was my dr, the 2 mw, a resus dr, a baby dr and another mw all in the room with us.
I was starting to get a bit scared at this point and I was told I needed to start pushing, after approx 9 pushes I was told to stop. They then got a kiwi ventouse and after 3 pushes Darcie was laid on my chest. Luckily she was shouting so the resus dr and baby dr buggered off.
We had skin to skin for a while and when they stitched me up from the episiotomy my OH got skin on skin. He was sooooo happy.

So Darcie India Whelpton was born at 12:03pm on 13/12/13! 9 days early.
She weighed 5lb 12 1/2 ounces and was 50cm long. She is tiny and looks like a doll. She started breast feeding straight away and I'm so in love with her.
Although I didn't get the birth I wanted, I'm thankful they got her out when they did. I was told they couldn't detect her heartbeat and my body and hers were fighting against each other.
We stayed in overnight and got discharged at 2pm on Saturday.
I just wanted to mention that although my labour was a bit traumatic I was so thankful for being induced as I dread to think what would have happened if my mw had left it.
The epidural was great and the initial induction process was fab.

Good luck to all mummy to be's and don't be scared of induction. Xx:hugs:

Thankyou, I'm loving being a mummy. I'm quite tired as she wakes at 11:30pm and stays awake until 7:00ish. But last night she slept for 4 whole hrs. So I feel a million dollars today. Hopefully she will start sleeping more at night soon. Xx:hugs:
