Hi. Im just after a bit of advice.

My daughter is 4 and keeps getting chest infections. She has had 4 just this year usually they reasult in staying in hospital for 2 nights on air and nebulisors and antibiotics.

She has one again now as we speak. We went to the out of hours dr who said she has some crackles on her chest and sent us away with antibiotics (amoxicillin) and steroids (prednisolone. She has been playing a bit today but not been her usual self and her breathing is about 45 per min.

Im worried there must be an underlying issue? She always gets a runny nose and starts weeing her knickers about 4 days before the rapid breathing and coughing start. Its got ti the point whenever she geta a runny nose I panic as I know thats how it starts.

Just wondering if anyone has any advice? We had an xray just last week from a previous chest infection (she has has 2 more since but we talk to the dr in 2 weeks if its clear (which it wont be as think ahe was probably starting up with a new one.)

Hope I am not rambling too much. Just would love anyones opinions on why it could keep happening or if they have had similar sort of thing happen?

TIA xxx

I've no advice other to say I'm sorry she gets so poorly must be awful. And so worrying for you all.

I'd post this in toddler section more people use that area so you'll prob get more response.

Oh hon I feel for you! My son just turned one and has been hospitalised 6 times for stays of a week plus on oxygen with reoccurring bronchiolitis, I've convinced myself there is something in our house making him sick (mould/ dust etc) but doctors just tell us 'he'll grow out of it' 👊 Not convinced! Have they mentioned asthma? My boy has 'the crackles' as you described and is just constantly sick but unlike other kids his colds turn into breathing issues! Motherhood is so much fun, I really hope u get some answers soon I know how frustrating it can be!

How worrying for you. My own children don't get chest infections but my brother is a lot younger than me and I remember when he was a baby/toddler he used to get them all the time. He too was in and out of hospital but he did grow out of them by the time he started school and he's now a fit and healthy 22year old!!

Sending best wishes and health your way. It's hard to read this but I hope your little girl is doing better now!
