Hi! My dr told me I might have to have a section because of my pelvis size, which I am really bummed about. In the US, how long do you stay in the hospital? My husband only has a week paid off and I would rather use it the day of surgery and after I get home for his help. Is it weird for him to go back to work while I'm in the hospital and nurses can take care of me? Thanks for any answers...

In the US too.

They keep you in for 3 days.

If you know you'll need a csect, it'll be planned. We will have a planned c, as I had one prior, and am an hour away from hosp that do vbac. So our plan is to have the csect on a Fri. The dc said it have to be done a wk before the due date, and it falls on a fri. So 3 days in the hosp, would mean we get out on Monday. Dh will be taking his wk vaca that week. I really need him here to help with the baby and our 3 yr old, especially since I will need that week to heal. Last c, i was able to take care of baby myself after the first week while he worked during the day. My only worry is that I wont be able to nap while baby does, as ds will be up :( dh will just have to le me nap a couple hrs after he gets home!

Well I had my C section on a Wednesday at 6pm. They released me on Friday at 6pm. So I had a 2 day c section.

Guess it depends on your hospital - I'll get 3 nights/4 days.
My husband is also planning on going to work for some of the time I'm in the hospital. I feel bad for him having to leave our little one so soon, but it just makes more sense to have him around when we'll both need him the most (when no medical professionals are around lol).

It depends on how well you and baby are doing. 2-3 days is average. My husband insists on being there the days I'm in the hospital. But he also gets more time off. He asked his boss if he could put in extra time now, and take longer off when baby gets here. It would be awesome if your husband can work something out with his boss too. DH only gets one week, but his boss worked out a deal that for every extra day he works, he can take an extra day off, up to one week. So he has worked a bunch of extra shifts and got 2 weeks off with me.

it depends on your health afterward, i needed to stay four to five days but only stayed four but you can stay up to a week here if you have/had pre eclampsia or something else like I did, but i wanted to leave and if you have no problems following your section you should be out within three nights or you can ask to leave on day three making it two nights as you do need to stay for them to remove your catheter and make sure you can walk to the shower, urinate on your own and check your blood flow and probably blood pressure and give you a blood test so yeah 48 hours minimum

I've always stayed 4 days because I requested an extra day. In the US, usually its 3 days but if you request from your dr an additional night, I've never had a doc (three c-sections, 3 different docs) argue about it. I just tell them I'm still really sore and still working on breastfeeding :)

With my son i had him on friday & was discharged on monday so 3days but my daughter was born on wednesday and was let out friday so 2days think it matters on recovery i guess x
