Debt agencies

Thornton Shepherd Associates based in Hyde i think it is, near Manchester.

They assess absolutely everything you owe out and work out what you can afford to pay back monthly. They freeze all interest on the debts you owe and you just pay back what you owe. It does mean all of the debts you have go into default which shows on your credit rating but if your in real trouble this shouldnt trouble you. Its a way out!

Its one DD a month which you pay to them and they distribute the payments to your debtors on your behalf. You never need to speak to another annoying foreign callcentre again!! The only snag is you pay them £30.00 a month for their trouble, but considering your saving hundreds possibly thousands on interest again this is small fish. :)

Hope this helps!! x

Have you been to Citizen's Advice. I'd reccommend them as the first port of call x

Please do not go to any that make a fee! They are not there for you, they are there to make money. CAB is deffo the best option initially and will do anything and more that fee charging ones do xx

I know a few people who have used gregory pennington. My mum cleared a lot of debt quite easily.

go to moneysavingexpert.com and find out about CCCS...they're free, volunteer led and brilliant!

Hope you're ok :hugs:

I second that!

I'm on there atm :) They are all really great on MSE and will save you paying those stupid fee-paying agencies.

xxx

I don't understand why anyone would pay a fee when there are fee free ones. OK, it may be £30 or so a month but thats an extra £360 a year paid off your debts if you use a fee free one :D

pay plan are free to use and recommended by several money lenders including barclaycard (on the back of their statement)

There have been a few news pieces on these agencies and they can be worse than your debt in the long run. Go to a non-profit credit counselling service and get the same help through them for FREE.
Beware of the debt consolidation agencies. There have been many warnings about them in the media.

yep, cccs, my mum has had help from them and i would recommend them everytime

As someone who had money troubles I would strongly suggest speaking to the CCCS BEFORE you speak to anybody else and read through the debt forums on moneysavingexpert.com.

Payplan - they are fabulous!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I too wouldnt recommend going anywhere near a fee paying company. They also take a chunk off the money you are paying to creditors too so it takes longer. Also you arent protected if they go bust so you could end up paying them and not paying the creditors - hth

Ring Citizens Advice before anyone else, they will be able to put you in contact with people who can help.

I do know of a company that help clear credit cards and loans taken out before April 2007 - Don't want to put too much detail incase I get shouted at, or it's against the rules, but it's not a scam, and IMO is worth a shot... if anyone wants any info I'd be happy to give you some :) My mum is being helped by them!
