Deciding on the date..?

Hi guys,

I'm new to this part of the forum!
Bascially yesterday (also my 19th birthday) my OH purposed to me very romantically in a big posh resturant with champange (only a little for me as I'm pregerant also!) & red roses. It's a gorgeous ring too.

My question is when is a good time to start planning and setting a date? Me and OH don't want to get married for 4 years as with buba we will have enough on our hands and we want to get a mortage first too. When did you set a date for your wedding, when did you start planning?

My OH proposed to me in October 2006, coming up 4 years ago. We couldn't get married for a while for financial reasons and then, when we started planning, we found out we were expecting Amy, our 1st, then I lost my job & now we're expecting our 2nd. So we've had to postpone our wedding a bit.

We've set a date for May 12th 2012 and we've recently started planning. I'd say have a chat about the sort of wedding you want over the next couple of years and then start planning properly, and set a date, when you have about 1-2 years left.

me and OH got engaged in December 2009 and we started planning last month (july 2010) we're not getting married till march 2012 though)

We got engaged on 3rd October and booked our wedding on the 9th November for a year later. We never wanted a long engagement though and knew where we wanted to get married - at "our" hotel where we were going for our anniversary weekend in November anyway so it made sense to just sort it whilst we were there.

urmm...i dont think its ever too early to book venues as they are sooo booked up in advance. As for the other stuff, I'd hold untill 18 months before because everythign can. (and will!) change inc your taste, maybe your size etc etc. Buy lots of magazines. book a venue and dream a little!!!! congrats on becoming engaged- hope to see you around her alot!!! xx
