So why did you decide on your babes name...or the reason on behind you going to pick your babes name....

Delaney Jane-OH and I both love it....Vera-OH's grandma's name, and babe is due a year exactly after his grandma passed.

Joesph-My baby brother's name who passed at 6 weeks old...Carter-We both agree'd on it.

I love sticking a family name into my babies names.
Nicholas Stanley - Stanley is his great grandfather's name and his grandfathers middle name.

Leo Harold - Harold is my dad's name.

I don't know yet what I'm having this time, but if it's a girl(s) there will be some combination of Ella and Lee. Ella = great great grandma's name and Lee is grandma's middle name.

A boy will have the middle name Richard my husband's middle name and his father and grandfathers middle name as well. a girl middle name briann after my husband Brian. My mom is Kellie Ann and my favorite cousin is Angela Ann. My mother was named after an uncle Dan Kelly who died in world war 2. The first name I would like after my grandmother but we aren't quite deciding just yet.

Might sound crazy, but I use astrology to help me name my kids.

Logan was one of the only boy names we agreed on. I think it works great for a baby/kid as well as an adult which is important to me. Plus husband is a little bit nerds and liked it for the Wolverine factor. :p
Then Easton is just a completely random name that I really like because it's more unique

The little girl will be called Cora Molly Elizabeth. Cora is a name me and oh just love. Molly is OH's nanny's name. She died many years ago, before I met him. Elizabeth is my nana who died 5 years ago x

DS1 is Billy (William) Peter. Billy is DHs late brother name and the first boy has always been a william for 100s of years in his family. Peter is my fathers name he only has daughter so none of us to carry on his famiy surname.

DS2 is James Michael. Just loved the name but by coincidence my grandfather who I never met is James and I had just recieved his holy medal the month I got pregnant after 18 months trying it was of St. Gerard the saint of fertilty so a nice tribute there. Michael is DHs middle name and his mothers fathers name again he never met him as both grandfathers on our mothers side died before we were born.

So in short and some my coincidence.

DS1 is named after both Grandfathers and DS2 is named after both Great Grand fathers.

Only problem now is I feel like I need to keep the trend up with bump due in April. I think I'm sorted for a girl Emily (I'm Emma-Louise) and Margaret after my granny and DHs sister who is also my best friend) and Joseph which is DHs name for a boy but I've ran out of middles names for a boy that have meaning but really want to stick to the trend now its started off so strong!

I wouldn't name a child after someone if I didn't like the name tho except maybe for a middle name but I've just been luck that I have loved the names anyway!

Lovely to hear everyones stories, some people are very against naming after family members.

:)

DS1 is Jackson Wayne - we just really loved the name Jackson. Wayne is the middle name of all the firstborn men in my husband's family for many generations. (my DH is the first born son, as is his father, etc.)

DS2 (this boy) - his name will be Lincoln Trace. again we just really loved the name Lincoln, and feel it goes well with Jackson, good brother names. Trace is my dad's name.

This will get long lol.

My eldest Isabelle Rose Iris
I've always wanted a daughter called Isabelle ever since I was little, Rose is my middle name, I was given it after my twin sisters that passed away at a few days old. Iris is my great grandmas name (Isabelle's great grey grandma) who is 92 and still going strong.

Eliza Poppy Georgia

Eliza my nan chose whilst I was pregnant, she was in hospital dying and this was the name she repeatedly told me she liked. Poppy is a name my mom loves, she's always liked it so I used it for her. OHs middle name is George so we used Georgia.

Bump is likely Matilda Daisy Phoebe or Matilda Lily Annie.
Matilda because I've always loved the name. Daisy as both my other daughters we're going to be called this so I feel I should use it. Phoebe is Oh favourite name and my great Nan's name. Lily would be because my dad adores the name and Annie because my great great gran was called Annie Elsie

I love my daughters names especially as they have so much meaning behind them x

Not very exciting stories here, or with any meaning really! My OH randomly suggested Thomas when I was about 29 weeks. I chose Isaac for his middle name as it was my favourite boys name at the time.

Sophie was supposed to be Zoey, but my MIL named her new cat that, and she also didn't look like a Zoey. My OH suggested Sophie as a similar name when Sophie was about 3 days old, so I tested it out and it stuck. Her middle name is May after my OH's nana.

Maisie is a name we fell in love with from pretty early on in the pregnancy. We came across it online and in a book, and we thought it sounded great with her last name.

Grace, her middle name, is after my best friend who had the same middle name. My best friend passed away in 2009 after a difficult battle with cancer.

My DS is Charles Louis:

Charles- my dad's first name
Louis- FIL's middle name

For the next one, a girl will be Claire Therese Lynn. DH loves the name Claire, Therese is MIL's first name, Lynn is my mom's middle name.

A boy will be Calvin John. I love the name Calvin and John is the only name I like with it! John is also my BILs middle name who we are very close with and has helped us a lot through the years.

We pretty much just stick with traditional family names :)

DS- Theodore Vincent William, aka Ted. We just loved the name Ted and liked all the other names Theodore is shortened to. We like old man style names. Vincent is my dad's name and William is the middle name traditionally given to first born sons in DH's family.
DD1- Violet Rachel Ann. Violet again just because we liked it. Rachel is my mum's name, Ann is my MIL's.
DD2- Isobel Ophelia Alice. Isobel is the name I've had my heart set on for my daughter since I was little. I regretted not using it with DD1 so DH gave in and let me have it for DD2 :haha:. Ophelia was DH's 1st choice for her 1st name so we used it as her middle. Alice is my middle name and was my Granny's name and Grandma's middle name so I've always wanted to use it.

Shani Rose - heard the first name and just liked its uniqueness. Rose after my great nan who was dying when daughter was born, plus she was born on st George's day so makes it even more fitting.

Sofia Kelly - didn't like any name that we shortlisted when I saw her, then two weeks after she was born the name just came to me. Never liked it before and had never mentioned it before then but just seemed to 'fit' her. Middle name after me.

Franklin Ben - heard the first name whilst in woolworths and immediately fell in love with it. Middle name is dh first name.

Sonny John Paul - husband chose first name as he was totally in love with it. Two middle names are after dh dad, my grandad (have same name) and my dad.

Evie Grace - loved the first name since was pregnant with first son. Also the name of an aunt. Ironically she was born on New Year's Eve. Grace was apparently my dh's estranged nans name, but we used it due to her being premature and unwell at birth, kind of a spiritual meaning.

Madeleine Daisy May - my nans first name, my great grandmothers name (never met her) and my other nans middle name.

If we are lucky enough to have another then they too will have family connected names (certainly middle names).

Aiden Thomas - Aiden was a name that both me and FOB really liked. At the time, we had never really heard it used, so that was some of the appeal. Thomas is FOB's first name.

Madalynn Ann - I just like the name Madalynn and spelled it the way I did because my middle name and my mom's middle name are both Lynn. Ann is my grandma's middle name and FOB's mom's middle name.

Seraphina Nicole - I found Seraphina on a baby name website while TTC. I absolutely fell in love with it and it stuck. Nicole is FOB's sister's middle name.

---Future Babies---

Phillip Michael - Phillip is OH's grandfather's name. And Michael is OH's middle name and also his dad's first name.

_____ Iris June - We don't have a first name picked out (I can't find any I like) but we will more than likely use Iris June as the middle name(s). Iris is because our baby will be my rainbow baby after losing Seraphina and June was OH's grandmother's name.

Poppy-May Ruth

Poppy - DH is in the army, Poppy's are strongly associated with military/war/remembrance day.. I do genuinely love the name too, it's not common here at all.

May - The month my first daughter was due/born.

Ruth - Grandma's name! :)

Gracie May - Grace was OH's grans name (he never met her) and May was my grans name - she died about a month before I met my OH. Plus both names go well together.

If our next is a boy it will be Reuben James - we love the name Reuben and both my papas are called James.

So why did you decide on your babes name...or the reason on behind you going to pick your babes name....

Delaney Jane-OH and I both love it....Vera-OH's grandma's name, and babe is due a year exactly after his grandma passed.

Joesph-My baby brother's name who passed at 6 weeks old...Carter-We both agree'd on it.

since you started this to explain choices can I be rude and ask why you chose the strange spelling?

I'm confused. What's strange about any of those spellings?

Joesph just seems mispelled, if it is a legitimate name then its very obscure and will probably be commonly mistaken for Joseph

Joesph would be pronounced Jo-s-f as there is no seperating vowel instead of Jo-sef which needs with the e after the s to produce the syllable

ive just never seen that spelling before and a quick google stuggles to find any legitimate history of it other than as a mispelling, it doesnt seem like the OP has made a typo as he wrote it that way multiple times so I was just wondering how she came up with it
