I LOVE LOVE LOVE the name Denzel
FOB likes it too BUT his last name is Watson .
People seem to like the name Denzel (get the only fools n horses joke but i like it prononced the american way) but the few who have said oh Denzel Watson sounds tooooo much like Denzel Washington.

:dohh:

What your thoughts of it?

Well Denzel Washington immediately popped into my head as soon as i read the post -- but -- he's a well liked, handsome celebrity! Nothing really wrong with that association, right??

Oh i agree! BUT i dont want people to think i named him after him you know what I mean?

There is an association but it is not quite the same as if your last name was Washington.
I say go for it - he will be called Denzel without his surname 90 percent of the time anyway:flower:

If you like it then stick with it.

I did think of both Denzel Washington and Denzel from OFAH when I read it but it is such a striking name and I think that's why it stands out. And to be honest I can only think of those two people with the name, so for that reason I think even if he was Denzel Smith or Denzel Jones he would still have people commenting on the other Denzel's just as much.

I didn't realise UK and USA pronounced it differently, how will you be saying it? I think I say it Den-zil but I've said it out loud so often in the past minute trying to work out the difference I have confused myself :haha:

Name sounds great to me. I like the name Denzel. I decided today that I am not going to tell anybody else the name I picked out for the baby since everybody seems to have an opinion about our choice and its really getting on my nerves

i admit that i even read denzel washington when i saw the post. it's not really a bad connection but it is one that most people will immediately make

Denzel Washington came to mind straight away...but it is a cute name! I know a little boy named Denzel James, and they call him DJ at school and such, so that could also be an option if you can find a fitting middle name.
