Hi everyone,

My little boy Gabriel was born at 31 weeks and is now 35 weeks. He is doing really well, gaining weight and has no major problems. In the beginning he went through a period of desaturations but they stopped after a few days. Now all of a sudden they have started again. I haven't been able to speak to the Doctors about it yet but does anyone know if this is normal or why they might be happening again?

Thanks in advance!

My boys had more desats when they were snuffily or had a slight infection. They are so tiny that it doesn't take much for them to struggle a little bit. Hope they stop again soon x

yeah desats that get suddenly worst or more frequent tend to be because of infection or Anemia, olivia was desatting at term n stopped 2 days before she came home xx

Yep this happened to Jenson too but whilst he was still in!

He seems ok now xx

Hi again,

Thanks everyone. Gabriel is still in the NICU. I talked to the doctor's today. They think it is due to acid reflux. He is receiving treatment for it now. It really scares me when the alarms go off. I hope this passes soon!

Thats exactly what it was with Jenson. He tried gaviscon and carabel and they didnt help. He was then put on Enfamil, a milk that thickens actually in the stomach, and on an orthodontic teat which has a faster flow... and he was home 72 hours later!!

Hope it works xx
