I'm just over 6 wks and had Brown discharge eventually leading up to light to moderate period like bleeding. Visited (last week) ER had transvaginal sono saw sac and fetal pole but no heartbeat yet. Am scheduled to see ob for first appointment on Monday but am feeling so horrible with cramping and Even though I don't have large clots, tissue etc I'm worried about the amount of bleeding. I'm interested in your experience with desidual bleeding, length of "fake period" and what the outcome was if your pregnancies. Please help!

Don't know if this helps or not... I didn't really have a fake period. I had spotting starting at 4 weeks, of varying levels day by day, and it seemed to increase if I lifted more than usual or walked a lot. The doctors had no explanation for it, as there was no evidence of low placenta or subchorionic hematoma. They just told me to take it easy.

Then at 9 weeks 2 days I suddenly had a massive bleed--red blood and large clots. All together it only lasted for 24 hours. It turns out the clot was actually a chunk of decidua and placenta. Ever since that bleed, the spotting has stopped. Baby is not only growing well, but has been AHEAD the entire pregnancy! I am on permanent pelvic rest and really can't exercise out of an abundance of caution.

I don't know what causes decidual bleeding, but in my case it seems to have caused no harm to LO at all, and it seems to have stopped altogether after I bled out the problem (which my maternal fetal specialist believes was a detaching or poorly attached piece of placenta).
