I have still managed to get heartbreaking news that probably will end my TTC "career". Please read the following post I made in the Special Needs section:

https://www.babyandbump.com/special-needs/79021-received-some-very-upsetting-news-yesterday.html

Well, I spoke to Rob about it and he doesn't think that we should freak out just yet. It is just his teacher's snapshot of Jasper, and she only sees him for 2 1/2 hours a day mixed in with a bunch of other kids. Taking a deep breath....

You know your own child. You see him most of the day, every day, and having an already-autistic child you are 'well up' on the signs and symptoms.

I work with a woman who has always known her child has Asperger's yet he was only diagnosed recently. She knew because of how she saw him interacting with people. The way he talked, the way he acted.

Perhaps he has some minor learning disability, or perhaps he is just a sensitive child who DOES learn visually. Some kids do. Some kids learn kinaesthetically, some learn vocally, some learn by repetition.

People are so quick to diagnose children, these days, when often the only thing 'wrong' with the kid is that they are not being taught in a way that benefits them

Hun, i'm completely with CS on this. You know your child far better than the teachers and this may just be who he is.

I have an almost 4yo niece who doesn't usually interact with people she doesn't know, she seems to prefer to sit back and take in her surroundings, she is such an observer and she will get in and do things 'hands on' as opposed to being a super social child. My sister was worried because the preschool teachers thought that this wasn't normal, so my sister took her to the pediatrician and she is fine.

If it would ease your mind, perhaps take Jasper to someone who can give you a diagnosis and whatever the result, you can cross that bridge when you come to it.

It made me sad to read that you felt like a failure because you are NOT. You're a loving mother, it is very clear to see that :hugs:

Your not a failure hun & I just wanted to give you a BIG hug x

I agree with the other girls. Don't panic! If you're worried then take Jasper for an assessment so that at least you have the facts one way or another. I am a teacher...and we can be worng! We are human beings and don't always make the right call, despite our best efforts.

Good luck :hugs:

I got a referral from his family DR to see a pedatrician.

:hugs: to you and your family. Try not to have the weight of the this on your shoulders. Your immediate action towards this shows you are loving, caring and wonderful mother.
