hi girls,

Dont know if i am posting this in the right section....but as Hubby and I have been trying for over a year now and been for doctors for tests etc and been referred to a specialist i felt that i fit in. hope so:) i would love some advice or support please:)

I had bloods done and everything came back as normal, they saw i had mild PCOS but told me it should'nt come in the way of us TTC. (was diagnosed with PCOS as they found cysts on my ovaries and periods were not regular when 17, now 25 and married in 2007 periods are very regular)

well anyway, doctor decided to send hubby's sperm off for testing, results came back not so good:(

we were referred to a specialist who told us that his sperm count was so bad that it would be a miracle if we conceived naturally:cry: she said that they found loads of abnormal ones and one (yes ONLY one normal one:( ) she was saying how that this could be a medical condition and that we would have to go through IVF... we go back in May for another appointment where she will give us hubbys blood results and see where we can go from there.

We both didn't believe that this could be true as this does not run in his family, but we have gradually come to terms with it.

hubby and I have a very positive attitude as we are still going to carry on trying, obviously we will space out BDing than before as it was every other day but, i feel i need a bit of support or advice from you girls :)

sorry for the long post!

babydust to all....xx

Hi hun!
There is a thread here related to male factor, you will find many people in similar situation.

https://www.babyandbump.com/problems-trying-conceive/270419-male-factor-roll-call.html
We also have to go for IVF with ICSI due to male factor. However if this is his first SA then you should get another one done. Since one SA is not enough to judge the quality. In the mean time you could try to get him to take vitamins herbs to improve the quality. Good Luck! and hope ur dreams come true soon!

Aw tahnks hun:)

ill have a look at that thread...

yeh hubby is taking Vitamins and is eating healthily, he has also read so much on how to improve the count, so he is making an effort:)

thanks i will have to tell him to ask the specialist if they could do another SA.

aw hun hope you get your bundle of joy soon:)

i will keep you posted:)

Thanks,
Its really great that your DH is making an effort. Took me a long time to convince DH to take any multi-vitamins.

hey my hubby justhad his second SA results that weren't good we have been referred to a uroligist now as on 10% are normal forms and 24 million 3ml = 8ml per ml supposed to be min 20ml with only 30%motility. were still trying to conceive naturally but been trying for a year and no joy!! Dont give up though it only takes one :) xx

Hi madam, dh and I have just been told almost exactly the same news, his was really bad too, so we are going straight for icsi in may. It's a bit of a shock and we have had a tough week since we found out, just trying to stay positive and we are still trying for a natural ( even though they sort of said dong bother), but we have been less obsessive about it. Hope you and your partner are ok, there is the male factor role call thread, take a look, there are loads of us so at least know you are not alone, it helps me a lot :hugs:

Your not alone. We have been told the same news apart from I have PCOS as well

We've had the tests done now and have our first ICSI appointment on 21st April. I'm just thankful that we have ICSI to try. I have put my DH on lots of vits that are recommended for swimmer problems.

He was taking well man vits but he's changed to a mega vit from holland and barrat.

mega vit x1
vit c x1
maca x6
zinc x1
l-arginine x 1
omega 3 x 2

He'll be rattling soon he's also getting l-carnitine this week as well. God I hope all this increases his swimmers lol

Aclio, will you be having a second sa done? I am very interested to see the effect of the vitamins on the count etc... I would like dh to take stuff but he is very resistent. If I had some evidence it works he might try it!

there's lots of ladies on here that the DH results have increased dramatically. There's a thread on here I'll find the link for you

Male factor Roll call - you should read the posts

thanks for all the replies, its helps alot to read other couples stories:)

hubby is on vits, he was taking Zinc but switched to Wellman Conception tablets as they contain more diff vitamins and he did say he will ask about a second SA and hopefully these vits will make a bit of a diff....

the specialist said that it will take around 2months for hubbys blood results to come back and after that she will get the ball rolling for IVF. yeh we still trying for it naturally aswell (but being less obsessive about it) as it would the perfect way of concieving:) although we were told exactly the same thing as you:(!

xx

welcome!

We too have a male factor problem. We were told we don't need to do more samples as our morphology issue doesn't usually change dramatically. We were told it wouldn't - its 2% at mo. Also we've kept on trying but no joy so I think that speaks volumes too! the clinic said when they take the sample for ICSI they can asses it then anyway so it will be interesting to see if the vitamins have helped as well. Saves us money on another test!

:)

We were told to keep them fresh for morphology issues and eat 2 brazil nuts a day as well lol xxx

my dh has been told he has low sperm count and motility. we were told back at the start of february. since then he has been taking vitamins and he quit smoking completely. He has his second SA coming up in mid april so it will be really interesting to see if there is any improvement with the lifestyle changes. He also is going to see a urologist in May. Hopefully that will shed some light on the situation!!!
