Diagnosed with Circumvallate Placenta today :(

I don't even know what to say...

Evidently they DID find something in the ultrasounds, and a month later, I am just now finding out.

They diagnosed me with a Circumvallate Placenta.

Does anyone know what exactly this is, can it hurt my baby/me, is this something I caused or possibly what can I do to fix it?

I was diagnosed with this just today (2-23-13) but they evidently saw it since last month. I am now almost 22wks along.

Please, I'm in tears right now. The doctor recommend me to a high risk specialist but couldn't tell me much.

Please, someone, give me some hope here (not false, but real, tangible hope).

Hubby and I are sick right now with worry.

I think it can be managed but you have to have lots of monitoring and scans to make sure bubby is growing properly, may result in an early birth and it apparently happens to 1% of pregnancies. Please let us know how you get on. Great thing is that you are at 22 weeks! 24 weeks is viable 28 weeks there is an amazing chance of survival!. In just 42 days if your placenta behaves you could have a healthy wee baby so with lots of monitoring I am sure you will be ok xxx Please let us know how you get on

Thank you! I really don't want to read any more horror stories, so I'm really praying it's an informational link, because honestly, hubby and I tossed and turned all night. When I did fall asleep, it was a nightmare. One of our daughter being cut from my stomach. Just awful.

I go to a high risk specialist in 2wks for an ultrasound to determine severity and or what we can do to hopefully keep her "in" as long as possible.

So far, she's measuring in the 69th percentile, so a little BIGGER than she should be at her age, which is wonderful, because what I was told yesterday, in all likelyhood she'll start slowing down and eventually fall behind where she should be
