I went for a glucose test on Tuesday and was told yesterday that i have gestational diabetes. They said my reading wasnt sky high but was above what it should be.
I have an appointment next thursday with a specialist to go through diet and how to test my blood sugar levels.
I am trying not to worry and keep positive but i cant help thinking that something is going to go wrong or happen to baby. Has anyone else been diagnosed around this time?

I was just diagnosed at 29+4. It's a high protein low carb diet, so it's not too difficult to follow. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to stay diet controlled and now have to be on insulin, but from what my dietician said, it's only a smallish percentage of people who can't stay controlled by diet alone.

I just rang for my readings of the diabetes test. My first bloods was normal at 4.2 (after fasting), 2nd bloods was 8.2 and should be 7.8. Not sure whether this is a big difference or not.

To be honest, my OB's office uses regular blood sugar numbers, so I'm not certain where those would fall on the scale. I know with mine, it seems to be that I don't process whole grains well, but otherwise my after meal numbers stay pretty good. It's the fasting number they worry most about.

I was told I had GD at 24 weeks. It took a little bit to get used to what my body could process. But not it's like second nature. I will sometimes eat something I am not suppose to. but I am pregnant. So far i have been able to control mine with just diet change.

Good luck!

Yep, me with my daughter. They didn't tell me till 34 weeks.

I modified my diet, which didn't help much (back then it was low fat, moderate carb, newer research says high fat and low carb). Had a growth scan at 36+2 and here were the results:

From that scan her birthweight at 40 weeks was estimated to be about 3.9-4.2kg (8lbs 9.5oz to 9lbs 4oz). We decided on a repeat c-section as I had an emergency with my son and because Sophie was going to be so huge. She arrived at 39+2 and was 7lbs 15.5oz (3.6kg), healthy as a baby can be, chubby, crying loudly and all that. You can see here that she was plump:

Certainly no macrosomia though, just a plump baby.

She had her blood sugars tested every 4 hours for about 16 hours, they were always perfect, and she took to breastfeeding quickly. There was no taking her away (only for that brief post birth check), there was no need to give her anything other than nursing at my breast, everything went extremely well. I too worried a lot.

I was diagnosed at the same time of 32 weeks with my last pregnancy. I was pushed for the test after measuring a little large, so had a scan to see why and it was down to extra fluid. I was just a tiny bit over what was accepted to be fine, and all I had to do was cut back on carbs and sugar (never used to realise how difficult that was!). Really didn't have any issues other than the fun of the blood sugar tests four times a day. I was allowed to go up to my due date before they insisted that I was induced. The birth didn't go to plan at all, but that's an entirely different story.

Your levels look similar to what mine where. They're not massively high hon. You'll be able to diet control without a worry on those. I havent even had to make any major changes really just more about how i space out what i eat too. Obviously cut out full sugar fizzy pop, have sweetner in tea/coffee. Ive found that if i dont waste my sugar allowance on things like that then im pretty good. I did find that my levels would spike first thing in the morning but that was because they were getting very low before breakfast. The key is not getting too low and also taking some activity post meals xx
