Feeling a bit bummed out by the diagnosis even though I'm not surprised with it. I have a 2 year old son who was conceived on clomid but there was no mention of PCOS then
I've been given clomid to start next cycle so hope it works again. Just researching PCOS now so any advice or tips on what I can do would be great xx

I read someone that 1 out of every 10 women have this!!! So how bad could it be? I know its worse in some people and have a really good friend with it (which is why I googled it to begin with) and she isn't able to have babies. But thats worst case scenario hun! :hugs: I hope it gets better

hi :hi:
i have pcos too and there are lots of ladies on here who have it. there are lots of success stories and seen as you already have a child its sounding good for you.
there is a good book called pcos for dummies which is really imformative, it does go on about eating a low gi diet as a lot of people with pcos have insulin resistance and the low gi diet is a lot better for slow releasing. i have been put on metformin and am waiting to see the endocrinologist regarding the pcos so hopefully he can help. its fab you have been given clomid already. good luck! xx

Thanks, I hope the metformin helps and the endocrinologist appointment goes well. xx

I had an appointment last Friday as Ive only had 2 cycles in 9 months - I'm having some blood tests tomorrow and a scan in 2 weeks. Ive also been having extremely bad pain in my right ovary though the doctor couldnt feel a cyst or anything. The doctor didnt seem concerned at all though, he said its very common. I JUST WANT MY AF!!! lol
Ive been researching loads and it looks like Clomid is the way to go with pcos.
My doc seems v releuctant to give it to me though, he wants to start progesterone and see how I go. Despite my ticker my hubby has pretty much given me the go ahead for TTC so its very frustrating.
Is there any way I can persuade my doctor to just give me the Clomid?
Good luck Humblebum, we'll both be fine :-)
xx

Hi. i also found out today that i have polycystic ovaries. I know no more than that at the moment as i have to change consultants as i can't attend clinics on the day my current consultant runs hers.

Will hopefully find out more from my new referral.

btw i didn't think i had any of the symptoms but after googling i have. Am overweight and am really struggling to lose anything, af's are mostly regular but very light and i have never had a CD21 tests over 30 despite being told that's normal! Get a lot of random ov pain too.

Hope the clomid does the trick!

Lisa

forgot to mention that i had a scan in October with an HSG and only found out as my consultant has written to my GP with this info on. Haven't had a formal diagnosis yet but hopefully will soon.

Sazaroo - My GP couldn't prescribe it for me but did refer me back to the consultant really quickly. Last time I had loads of tests before I was given it as I think it can cause problems if you have blocked tubes etc. This timeI had an examination but no other tests. I do have to go for the day 21 bloods to see if it's working. It is so frustrating and each month seems to drag doesn't it! I hope you get somewhere with your dr soon.

Purple Daisy - I hope you get a formal diagnosis soon and some treatment. I too am a bit overweight and struggle to lose it. I thought it was just me being a piggy but maybe not! Am going to do some more googling to see if I can help myself at all.

xx
