My last pregnancy I dialated early and my son was born premature at 33 weeks due to pPROM. That was over 10 yrs ago. I am now going on 25 weeks pregnant again. Found out at Dr that I am nearly 2cm dilated now. Dr said I will have to come in more often to keep eye on it and to stay off my feet as much as possible. Got a go back for Ultrasound in a few days. Has anyone else dilated this early and still carried to at least 36 wks without a stitch?? Did you have any symptoms of early dialation? Need advice.....very scAred that my baby could be born too early :nope:

It is because of IC. I had a LEEP done on cervix 10+yrs ago and caused it to be weaker.

sorry to hear that... same here i might be having an IC i'm not really sure lol. It's hard when you don't know :( .. you should try to get a cerlage... i heared it really helps. :)

I dialated early my last pregnancy so Dr wanted to keep close eye on it which is why she was checking at this point anyways. Ill know more after Ultrasound but Im sure she will probably wana do a cerclage.

I was hospitalized at 24 and 5 for dilating 1 cm. When I was hospitalized they found I was having some contractions (I didn't know what they were supposed to feel like). I stayed in the hospital for 7 weeks and then was sent home for two weeks on bedrest before my water broke at 33 and 6. For my doctor early dilation is an immediate hospital bedrest stay. Because I started to have contractions they also gave me steroid shots and magnesium. I am so happy you are not having contractions.

Because this is your second child things might be different for you. I remember hearing if you've had a baby before dilating early isn't as big of a deal, and some women stay dilated safely for a long time.

Oh and in the 9 weeks on bedrest I didn't really dilate more until my water broke, but I did start effacing early. So dilation was not what caused me to deliver early.

Keep us updated. Praying for you.

with my 3rd pregnancy, I was told early on that my cervix was dilated 2cm. by 7 months I was walking around at a 4. My Ob told me I had thick membranes and I wasn't placed on bed rest but I was restricted to the area and wasn't allowed to do any lifting heavier then a gallon of milk. I made it to 40 weeks and they actually had to start my Labor, but as soon as they did that 3 hours later it was all over and my son was born.

That's great! I hope that's how things go for me

With my first I was dilated to a 1 at 30 weeks and put on bed rest. Ended up in and out of labor for a while, got up to 4 cm. But I made it all the way to 35+5! Was 100% effaced and in 0 station for a whole week prior (uncomfy to say the least). Waters ended up breaking, but my son was 6lb 2oz and perfect (aside from some nasty jaundice which is common).

Sending positive vibes that you will make it to 36 weeks!! Stay off your feet and drink your water :hugs:

Well I'm still at 2 cm right now. Not on bed rest but was told to stay off feet as much as xxx possible. Going to Dr weekly. I still hadn't been having contraction until yesterday. And I guess they were only BH but had alot yesterday. Not painful but every time I would get up I would feel them. I didn't call Dr cause they finally stopped yesterday afternoon. But i go to Dr Thursday so I will definitely be telling her about it. Baby also moved ALOT most of day. More than his usual.
