Did anybody have their mother-in-law & mother in the room?

I am having my DH and my MIL in the room I will not be asking my mother so this will probably end up in an argument but o well its my experience and im going to have it my way!

I had DH and my mother in with me, it wasn't the plan it just happened that way but I was very glad to have her there in the end and so was DH. I think my MIL was a little put out that she was not invited but to be honest we are not that close and the thought horrified me.

At the end of the day it is you that is going through the experience and who you want to share it with.

I wouldnt infact I was miffed when she turned up not long after I had my shower after giving birth I had no idea she even new baby was here yet!

If you all get on though I guess I see no problem

With ds1 I had my mom, dad and DH in the room with me. With ds2 I had a homebirth and had lots of people there, but at the time of birth (1:50 am) it was just DH, my mom, MW and assistant. I asked my MIL if she wanted to be there, but she decided to watch our oldest son instead.

Have who you are comfortable with, dont' give in to people because they beg you. This is YOUR birth.

I had MIL and my mum there in labour and OH. When it was decided that I needed a C-Section and OH decided he couldn't cope with coming into theatre it meant my mum could come in with me and MIL could stay with OH. They all got on reasonably well, but both my mum and MIL are friendly approachable people who get on well with people they don't know well.

Thanks for all the advice! We invited my MIL to be there, she is great, she said "I would love to be there and if you want me to leave just say so, or if you feel to embarrassed tell Kenny (DH) to tell me! I won't get my feelings hurt!"
Now we just have to tell my own mother about the delivery room guest list, which just may be more of an ordeal.
