Thought I would ask you ladies since you may remember and be able to give me reassurance that everything was ok.

After researching online im quite worried about the activities I was doing before I got my bfp.

I tested early on Saturday and period is due Thursday.

On Friday and Saturday I painted all day and used paint thinner on my hands to get paint off and to clean my brushes.

Later that night I took a test (frer) and it was positive. I've then researched paint and paint thinner in early pregnancy and now im so scared.

I had a MC In sept and have been trying to avoid everything that could be harmful. I wasn't aware of the potential problems painting could bring if I was pregnant.

I am 4 weeks on Thursday.

Do you think I should be worried? I am trying to gain reassurance that i was so early but from what I've read the risk of harm is greatest in the first few weeks.

Can anyone reassure me?

At 4 weeks of pregnancy, your baby has only been implanted in your uterus for around 2 weeks.

At this point, there is absolutely no transfer of blood between mother and baby. The baby is merely a ball of cells with a tiny yolk sac developing that 'feeds' the baby with a sugar compound from the lining of the womb.

Blood won't begin to transfer from your body to his/hers until around week 6-9. So don't worry.

If it helps, I was a smoker until the day I found out I was pregnant at about 3.5 weeks and had also had a glass of wine or two before I knew. My 18 month old is absolutely fine.

There is a big difference between early pregnancy and literally-just-established pregnancy. :) At this point, I think it would be practically impossible for your little one to experience any effect whatsoever from the products you used.

Congratulations, by the way!

Thank you. That helps so so much :)

Good, I'm glad. For what it's worth, I had a MC too many years ago and worried also about doing the 'wrong thing' this time, and messing up, but it all went perfectly smoothly.

My little girl is now shouting 'BOOB! BOOB!' at me, so I'll sign off. Wishing you a happy and healthy nine months and the best of luck!

The month I found out I was pregnant, we had also just moved into a new home - my husband and I painted pretty much every room in the house over that time period, much of when I was pregnant and didn't know it. All is well with my healthy 2 year old!

I drank an entire bottle of red wine the day before my BFP with Sophie, so that's pretty terrible! Nothing bad came of it that I know of.
