With my first natural birth both epidurals failed.

With the spinal it was perfect, at first, but near the end I started getting pain and I said and she gave me nice drugs which helped :haha: but by the time I was in recovery I was in a huge amount of pain and it was clear that it had Worn off completely.
so they experience and everything was absolutely fine and the fact it wore off quick wasn't an issue really but anyone had the same? Wondering if they can do anything differently this time to make it last a little longer?

Sorry...no...I didn't have that experience at all during my section. In fact, it was at least an hour after I was out of recovery before I started to feel anything. I would bring this up with your anesthesiologist because it could be they need to place it a bit differently or up the meds slightly.

Yes! Me! In 2004 when I had my first C-section, I was in the middle of my C-section and the pain gradually got more and more and I finally yelped out "I feel it! I can feel you cutting!!" and they gave me drugs to "forget the pain". So, while I guess I don't remember now feeling the rest of the c-section, it's not something you actually "forget". LOL

Not me. I had a spinal during my emcs and it took a couple hours afterward for the feeling in my legs, etc. to return.

They said I would be pain free for about 12 hours post op, lol, I didn't even make it through the surgery, I'm not worried as the drugs I had helped so worse case scenario that happens again.

SLCMommy- are you VBAC this time? Or another section? Did you mention it?
Also off topic are you LDS.

yes i did my first csection in 2004 was fine i just had the spinal block no probs even tho it was an emc but my last one last year i had a spinal and epi combi omfg after they pulled him out i did start to feel things i was in such a state i couldnt say anything and its petrified me ever since i am allowed to try for a vbac as long as everything goes smoothly but if i have to have a csection im going to make sure this is covered and that i refuse the epi and just want the spinal xxx

With my emcs in 2010 I had a epidural which wore off very quickly, I felt them cutting me open in theatre i screamed and then they put me under a general anaesthetic in seconds! With my elective cs in 2012 I told them about what had happened previously and how I was a nervous wreck and my anaesthetist was lovely and gave me a very good extremely numb spinal I felt absolutely nothing not even tugging was as if they where doing a cs on someone else.

Good luck , not long left now. Exciting!

I feel like I only attend now and again and I am a member lol, been weeks since I went lol.

My epidural did (didn't have a spinal). I was induced and in established labour for 5 days, 6 hours pushing, failed forceps then the EMCS. I had an epidural at 8cm as I was exhausted, but it was dosed low so I was still feeling contractions but the edge of the pain was gone, which was my request. They uped the dose in theatre with the forceps. They sewed up my inscicion, and once they started on the vaginal tears and episiotomy I could feel everything. I told the anaesthetist who told the dr. She just ignored him so he yelled at her to stop and put in some local which she did reluctantly. They decided to keep the epi in for 24 hours to keep me comfortable, which I was not at all happy with as I wanted to be up. I kept telling them I could feel my left side completely but they didn't believe me until they did the ice test. But they had trouble putting mine in and took about half hour so kind of explains it

Sorry to scare you, but mine did every 3 hours. I dont know how many forms they had to take in to get signed but I had to have my epidural repeatedly topped up.

My friend had to have a section with her little one, the spinal started to wear off as they were stitching her back together. She had to quickly be put under, her hubby sent out the room and her little one taken away from her while they sorted her out. She was told because of what happened, she HAS to wait 2 years before she is aloud to start trying again for children.

I had 3 c-sections, but with my cerclage I felt everything. First it took so long and 2 anesthesiologists to put it in so while he was down there it hasn't taken effect yet I guess. It was horrible.

Yes. It kept wearing off multiple times. Each time would leave me in tears. It happened right before the section too. I screamed when I felt them cut me and they quickly gave me something else. I'm terrified since they told me I can only have c-sections from now on. I don't want the same thing to happen. :nope:

I had an epidural during my labour with emily. My body became so itchy i couldnt ignore it. I accidentely touched my wire that was in my back and i must have knocked it out because during my emcs i was beginning to feel ALL sensations again! They gave me a spinal but it obviously didnt go in. It wasnt until afterwards and the nurse said 'oh, its already out' that i realised a c section wasnt supposed to feel like that. My elective was amazing though, didnt feel a thing! xx

My spinal did not work with my manual removal of the placenta - was the worse pain I have ever had :-(
Am absolutely terrified about it happening again this time !

I had an emergency c section and my epidural didn't work so I was knocked out with general anesthesia. They couldn't tell me why afterwards it didn't work but they didn't have anymore time to keep trying to fix it as my little girl had to get out xxx

My first epidural worked lovely with my son whom I gave birth to naturally. However, my second delivery, (my daughter) was by C-section and that is when the "block" wore off.
I don't know if they can do anything differently to keep the "block" from wearing off but as I felt what no one should feel during the "cutting" part, they heard me express my disdain for what I was feeling. I heard a frantic, "Knock her out!!!" and down the morphine went into my system. Hours later I woke up in recovery. It was very scary. I cannot forget or unfeel what I felt at that moment.
