Did I make the wrong decision?

I have just read a story of a lady who had the flu and whooping cough vaccine on November 1st. On November 5th her baby was born sleeping.

On Wednesday I had the flu vaccine after a talk with my midwife who assured me that although (from what I had read) over 3000 babies had died (miscarriage and stillbirth) after mum had got the flu/whooping cough vaccine there was no definite proof anywhere that states these were due to the vaccines. My midwife told me that in all her years she had never seen a confirmed (unexplained losses put aside) case where the vaccine was the cause.

I am terrified I made the wrong decision. Terrified I have put my baby at risk. I can't lose another baby, I am not strong enough :-(

Have any of you had the vaccines? I think I had it with my first, it was 10 years ago so can't fully remember. I had it with my little boy but he was born sleeping at 25+5 not linked in anyway to the jab but I didn't have it on my last. I am scared :-(

I don't think you did. I know how we tend to overthink and worry about every possible thing that could go wrong, but I don't believe the vaccinations are related to the born sleeping babies. In the US we encourage the flu vaccine to everyone, especially young/old/pregnant due to the severity of the flu (especially this year).

I wouldn't have done it, but I avoid things that they tell me are "proven" safe when I doubt their proof. I've refused scans before 8 weeks this time as we lost our second after having 2 scans at 6 weeks and I'm not entirely convinced it didn't have something to do with it. I also refuse to go through the radiation machines at the airport even though they claim they are "safe" for pregnant women (have had to get a pat down twice now because of it). I try to skip most meds that are 100% required when I'm pregnant.

I have no choice on meds I am afraid. I have to inject myself daily to keep my baby alive. As for scans, everyone has their opinions bit I had over 20 in my last, some three times a week. She is a healthy 16 month old. On my three early losses I never had a scan and still lost them.

I kind of needed reassurance that I haven't harmed my baby. Not being told this and that isn't safe, especially as I pump my self with last saving medication every day

Thank you. I know thousands of women have the vaccine while pregnant and have perfectly healthy babies. You know what it's like, you read something over think it and worry sick xx

Definitely you made the right call, over here in France they gie the flu vaccines to all pregnant women. The risks if you did catch flu to you and your baby are very high, premature birth, pneumonia etc... Have wee look at this

It's ridiculously hard not to worry about everything, but trust your gut instinct xxx

Don't worry yourself, you definitely made the right decision. People never write stories about having had the flu jab when nothing terrible has happened afterwards. The stories you read are of women in the minority. I would suggest not reading them! Stick to the facts.
I had the flu jab last year, does anyone know how often you should get it? Or do you only have to get it once like the BCG jab?

Amjon, ultrasound scans use completely harmless sound waves. I had a scan at 6w followed by a miscarriage, then another at 6w for this pregnancy and everything is fine.
As for the airports machines, if you mean the walk-through metal detectors, they work with low frequency electromagnetic fields (the same as you would get in your house from any electric appliance) not radiation. Again, harmless.

I'm absolutely not saying don't take any meds. I said any that are not necessary. I take MANY meds, but only take those that the risk of taking them is smaller than the help they provide my babies. I would NEVER put a vaccine in that category. There are meds I am on now because I did lose my first at 27 weeks and then had MCs after, so if I didn't take them I'd be at a great risk of losing the twins. Some things can certainly wait until after pregnancy though.

No, I'm talking about the ones that DO use radiation that are for "extra" screening for selected people. Not the one that everyone has to go through.
