I did a poll a while ago to see if people who had developed severe pre eclampsia went on to develop it again in other pregnancies...

Basically i developed severe pre eclampsia and hellp syndrome with my daughter and now my partner and i are thinking about having another baby so i am interested in see how many people it came back in and how many people went on to have a normal pregnancy.

If you developed it again at what stage of your pregnancy did you develop it again?
Where you further on that in your first pregnancy?
Was it as severe?
Did you get HELLP Syndrom back?
Where you with the same partner?
Did you take asprin from 12 weeks?

Anyone?

Any experiences would be good to hear about be it good or bad.

I'll let you know in a few months!! :winkwink:

I had severe pre-eclampsia toxemia with daughter number 1, it was picked up and a day later they delivered her on christmas day 2005 at 29 weeks + 4 days, she weighed 2lbs 5ozs.

Am now 9 weeks pregnant, seeing midwife today and booked in at the hospital as classed as high risk...there is the possibility of aspirin, I will also be scanned and monitored a lot more closely...Doctor said if it does reappear and I can hold out to 34-36 weeks then it won't be as traumatic as last time.

This second baby is with a different partner.

Good luck i hope everything goes well for you and i'll look forward to hearing what the MW's say for you to do.

Hi,

I had severe pre-eclampsia and hellp syndrome with my first baby. She was born at 34 weeks. I had felt really good all through my pregnancy until about 32 weeks when i felt off colour but couldn't describe why, then the one night i had a migraine (which i was used to getting pre being pregnant) and i got one the next night, so my hubby told me to go to the hospital to be checked, after an hour of being monitored i was reffered to the hospital i'd be delivering at, thinking i was being monitored, to be told i had to transfer to another hospital 1 hour away as there were no neonatal cots, when i arrived at that hospital in the early hours of the next morning they checked my blood again and told me the platelets were so low that they had to deliver emergency c-sec, waited 1 hour for them to get blood transferred in from another part of the country, then in i went, and baby alexa mia was born at 5:20am. I felt so scared, it was my first baby and i thought all was well. I would love a big/ger family however now would be so worried about the same event reoccuring in another pregnancy, because my hubby has a son with his previous partner and she had pre eclampsia aswell, so i blame him!! :-)

hi :flower:
I had severe pre eclampsia with my 1st baby (they kept mentioning HELLP but was out of it so not sure if i actually had it)
I was kept in hospital from 31 wks on tablets 2 control my BP and Ellie was born at 35 weeks by c section after I went downhill very quickly.
My 2nd pregnancy was fine up untill 35wks when my BP started 2 rise, they put me on BP tablets again and the midwife checked my BP every day. This carried on till 38wks when they induced me due to high BP.

I took aspirin from 12wks and both have the same dad.
HTH xx

I had severe pre eclampsia with my 1st born, 10 years ago, deliverd her by csection at 35 weeks. And then a year and a half later I had my 2nd daugher with the same partner and no pre eclampsia. Delivered her at 39 weeks. This time around I had a different partner anddelivered at 39 weeks and the dr said i had just turned pre eclamptic that morning while waiting to have my csection. So, I am a true believer that if you have the same partner, you shouldnt get pre eclampsia again. But maybe I just got lucky with my 2nd? Good luck!
