Hi Ladies,

Sorry to gate crash in the your section, but I figure that you may be the best audience to post my question to you as you are already pregnant! Congratulations to all of you and I sincerely wish you the best of luck with your impending birth.

My DH and I are desperately TTC our first baby. My doctor has just started me on 50mg Clomid (CD2 until CD6) for the first time which I started over Easter and I am interested to know how long it took you to conceive on Clomid? Was it your first try, second try.... and so on?

Did you conceive your baby on 50mg, 100mg or 150mg?

If you used Clomid to conceive, did your pregnancy result in a Single baby, Twins or Triples (or more)? I realise the odds of multiples having been advised by my doctor, but i thought I'd throw it out there and see what your experience has been/is?

Many thanks ladies and again, my sincerest congrats to you. Hopefully I'll be joining you in motherhood soon...God willing. Praying and holding out all hope for a miracle of our own.

Good luck to you all and thank you for responding.

Hiya. I got oregnant in 2008 by accident with my first child and then after having her didnt have any proper periods. I have been diagnosed with pcos and had to fight to see a specialist. They wouldn't help me conceive because I'm overweight but consultant finally gave me Clomid to restart period cycles. I was secretly trying for a baby. We had already been trying nearly a year ut without ovulation it was pointless. He started me on 100mg taking it CD 2 to 6. I had 4 goes with only the first time causing ovulation. I then went back to see him knowing because it wasn't working he would stop Clomid till I ost about stone n half but luckily for me he was on holiday and I saw a woman doc who gave me 3 months of 150mg and I conceived this baby on the first cycle.
I'm having a singleton and so far everything is going good other than hyoeremesis guvardium and sever spd but neither is to do with my Clomid.

I wish you all the luck in getting your baby.

Oh forgot to mention I had headaches for about a week starting after I have taken Clomid tablets for two days but was well worth it. Also ovulation was quite uncomfortable as I got very tender.
Xx

Hi Matildasmummy,

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. It's nice to know/learn about other experiences.

My DH and I have all the tests - DH is perfectly fine, which is fabulous news, but my problem is that sometimes my lead follicle grows too big & mature, so in essence by the time it is released it is no good for fertilisation. Similar to have a too immature/small egg... but on the opposite end... it's too big.

Clomid has been prescribed in hope of giving us more 'targets' so to speak. Day 4 of taking the 5 day dose and so far no side effects - however I'm not being foolish in thinking i've escaped the worst of it yet... I think closer to 'O' I might start to experience some symptoms. Time will tell.

Thanks again for your post.... I wish you all the success and happiness with your impending baby.

Good luck! :)

Hiya :) first time I conceived naturally then when my daughter was 2 I began with secondary amenorrhea due to low oestrogen apparently which was caused by too much weight loss despite having a bmi of 20.7. Anyway I conceived my second child on 3rd round of 50mg clomid told to do days 3-7 but wasn't sure on the cycle I conceived whether was 2-6 or 3-7 but was on holiday so think the relaxing definitely helped!! Good luck and I hope it works for you xxx

I conceived in 2010 on 100mg of clomid but sadly it turned out to be ectopic. Then I conceived my son on 100mg also and he is now a happy 9 mnth old :) im now pregnant again med free because apparently ur more fertile shortly after having a baby lol fl hun :)

We had two babies with no problems conceiving, both were conceived the first month. This one we tried for almost a year and then went and saw my obgyn. I wasn't O'ing on my own so dr gave me clomid. It took 3 rounds of clomid and i conceived on 150 mg with only one baby and he'll be here on thursday! GL and hope it happes quickly for you!

My DH and I tried for 2 years on our own before we sought out medical help, which we should have done sooner. In 2008 I was diagnosed with PCOS and put on birth control pills for two months to help regulate my cycles. Then we were put on 50mg of clomid CD #3-7. It was on the 3rd cycle that we concieved. We had a bouncy baby boy in July 2009.

For our second we thought we would have the same luck, but after 5 failed rounds of 100mg clomid, we decided to try an IUI. Which to our amazement worked on the first try. Now we are expecting baby #2.

For some women it may take a little longer depending on what your diagnosis is, because your body doesn't always cooperate the way you want it to. Trust me I know. I wish you the best of luck and hopefully you are one of the lucky ones that it works on the first try.

Hi and good luck in completing your TTC journey asap!

Here is my history..

Me: age 36 short LP and early natural ovulation. FSH almost 10 when tested in 2010
DH: age 35 varicocele, low count

TTC#1
2 years+ TTC. first 2 pregnancies (natural conceptions) both MC
Round 1 clomid 50mg CD2-6 ov CD12. 2-3 follies. BFP - Son born in 2011

TTC #2
NTNP from when son was born, then started clomid:
Round 1,2 BFN. 3,4 BFP but early MC. 5 tried 100mg BFN and not keen on side effects.
Round 6 (last round!) 50mg, CD2-6 ov CD14-15. BFP. 2 CL's, one stuck - current singleton pregnancy!

:flower:

I used Letrozole, even though I already ovulated on my own. (I had a stillborn, then two MC, so the doctor thought it might give me better quality eggs.) I was worried about conceiving multiples, but was told it was highly unlikely and not to worry about it. The first month I got it a day late, so did CD4-8. The second, when we conceived the twins, I did it when the doctor ordered it for CD3-7. The doctor had a plan of BD every other day, but DH was working out of state, so was only home for a few days during my fertile period, so we just went with every day when he was there. He left a couple of days before we ovulated, but it was good enough to take (and for two boys too, so much for the theory of before O is girls ;) ).

I conceived using 100 mg clomid, CDs 3-7. It was my 8th round of clomid total, 7th ovulatory. I'd done 3 rounds with a different doctor, then took about a 5 month break as we moved across the country and it was just too much stress. The 4th ovulatory cycle with my current doctor is the one that I conceived on. Total we TTC almost exactly 2 years before conception occurred.

I have a singleton, but I also learned that your body doesn't respond the same way to the same dose each cycle. Through monitoring I know there was at least one cycle on 100 mg that the doctor thought my body released at least 2 eggs, because both ovaries were enlarged. I didn't conceive that cycle though. I didn't actually go in for monitoring the cycle I conceived because we went out of town!

Hi there! We are on a very similar path apparently. My DH and I have been TTC our first for almost 2 years. He had Low T and had to get on clomid and now that all his levels have been great since June '12 the Dr decided to start me on clomid before we go IUI. I just started my first round this month just before Easter. I'm glad you asked this question! Sending up prayers for you!

:dust:

I have PCOS and DH has no fertility issues so we tried clomid and it worked for us!

TTC #1 - 50 mg clomid did not make me ovulate. 100 mg I ovulated and conceived on second cycle. My ovaries were not being monitored so I don't know how many eggs were released. At the first ultrasound (very early, only 6 weeks), there were two sacs but no heartbeats yet. At the second ultrasound there was only one that had developed into a baby and she is now my 2 1/2 year old daughter!

TTC #2 - went to see a fertility specialist as my hormone levels were really wonky. 100 mg clomid made me ovulate and my ovaries were being monitored this time so I knew I had two ripe follicles and the chance of twins, but the specialist told me there was only about a 10% chance that both eggs would be fertilized. I conceived on cycle 1, just one baby and now I am almost 35 weeks along with a little boy!

Good luck, I hope clomid works for you!

Hi, I'm currently pregnant with our first. We were ttc for 5 years. I have pcos and one defective ovary. Dh all ship shape.
I was on clomid for 18 rounds plus accupuncture, herbs etc and concieved on our final round with 250mg. I was carrying twins but am now expecting a little boy. All the luck to you and dh.

We did :) We conceived on our second round of 50mg, so very lucky. We were trying for over a year and then figured that my luteal phase was too short to sustain a pregnancy and the clomid must have helped to extend it just enough. Oh and it's just the one little bub, I think more often than not you will end up with a singleton but they just have to make you aware of the small chance of twins.

We concieved on my first cycle of clomid...I believe I took 50mg's CD 6-11 which caused me to O pretty late in the game but we still caught the egg!! We are expecting a little girl this month:happydance::happydance:
