Did you get any help after c-section?

I have a 6yr old and 16 months old. My first nearly ended up being a EMCS but had a ventouse, and my second I wasn't progressing again with baby in distress so did have a EMCS.

I'm due my third in May and know i struggle to progress plus I'm scared what will happen to baby. My second was born poorly and was in PICU for a month.

My recovery after the section was very good and I have no pains or issues. I'm scared to go for a VBAC because I don't progress well but my mother is saying that it will be hard to recover as I'll have 2 other children to look after at home as well as baby. She said that as we were in hospital for a month after the previous section (we stayed with baby mostly) that I didn't have to do anything so it was easier.

I'm just worried as I know I will be with less support than previously. What was your situation and how did you recover?

I had an 18 month old at home when I had my second c section. I actually recovered really quickly. I was probably lifting more than I should have done because it's hard when you're home alone with a toddler who needs to be lifted into and out of his cot and high chair etc but I didn't do myself any injury and coped ok.

I had a 3 year old and a 15 month old when I had my c section, ds3 stayed in scbu for 2 weeks so I wasn't looking after him for the first part but I was left doing nearly everything for my others. It was difficult and very painful but to put it bluntly I didn't have any choice so had to do it. I found i was still in some pain a good few weeks later but I learnt what things gave me more pain and tried to avoid those

Thanks for your replies. I actually found the episiotomy from the first labour more difficult to cope with. I'm scared of all the tampering they do down there!

I had a great experience after my section. Went home the day after it on just paracetamol. Was able to lift my 2 year old in and out the bath and high chair the day after I got home. Maybe shouldn't have but was fine. I had my husband there so did get a chance to rest but my 2 year old only really likes me doing things so had to I suppose. The key for me was taking the pain killers and moving as soon as I could. Yea it was sore to start with but really helped me recover quick without over doing it xx

I had an episiotomy with my first and the pain from that is all I really remember from his labour and recovery! Dealing with the aftermath of my c section was totally different

I felt worse after my first and coped with the c-section better but I guess as we were in hospital for a few weeks after, it made me question whether I coped better with it because we were there an not home?

I had to have a c section in November as my baby was breech. I had a 26 month old at home. My husband had 2 months off work and I needed it as I think I over did it the first few weeks and developed an infection in my scar. It's still infected now, 12 weeks on and hasn't yet healed. I had a third degree tear and an horrendous labour with my 2 year old but I'd say it was a walk in the park compared to the recovery from a section.

I had 2 csections and will be having my third in May. For me, I recover fully within exactly a week. I have zero pain tolerance and I find csection really quick to recover from. I was up the next day and doing laundry the next day when I got home. It was uncomfortable to sleep in my bed bc it's so low and soft but otherwise I was fine! My DH took 2 weeks off and my mom and mil were around to help but I was really ok.
