Would love to hear your birth stories as i was first told that i would have a c-section as it was recommended and safer for the babies, but i met my new consultant yesterday (i changed consultants as the 1st one had a terrible attitude) and she assured me that as long as the pregnancy went smoothly and there's no problems, she will induce me at 37 weeks and theres no reason why I cant have a normal vaginal delivery as long as twin 1 is head down.

I'm now a little confused as i was first told that there are more risks with identical twins and it would be best to have a c-section, but my consultant said as long as there was an experienced doctor there then i'll be fine. Im now starting to worry about it as i dont want to put the boys in any risk and wanted to avoid an emergency c-section.

What was your experiences? x

I had an emergency c-section at 31 weeks. Prior to that I had tried and tried to get my consultant to talk to me about birthing options as I really wanted a c-section but they always said that there was plenty of time to talk about that later.....turns out it didn't matter anyway!!

I delivered vaginally - Fynn (T1) was head down and Sam (T2) was breech. I was induced at 37+4 due to high blood pressure - but only a few days ahead of time as they usually induce twin pregnancies at 38 weeks anyway.

I had the first pessary at 8pm, my waters broke at 2.22am and I started contracting almost immediately, I had an epidural at 5.30am and was fully dilated by 7.30am. After an hours pushing they realised Fynns head was facing the wrong way and Sam wasnt doing so great so they had to intervene. I was moved to theatre and had to sign all the c-section legal whatsits but they were going to attempt forceps first. Fynn arrived by forcep delivery at 10.12am weighing 5lb12 and Sam was delivered footling breech at 10.26am weighing 5lb 4. Myself and Sam were discharged two days later and Fynn was in special care for three and a half weeks due to an immature bowel. They are 8 weeks old now and weighed 8lb3 and 8lb6 ten days ago and have just started smiling and laughing this week and it makes it all worth while xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hi there,

I had a vaginal delivery. I was told the same as you - as long as the pregnancy progressed without any problems then I would have a natural birth. I went in to be induced on a Tuesday night but when they checked, I was already contracting and they didn't have enough staff to deal with a twin birth that evening so they left the induction until the following morning. I had my waters broken at 10am on the Wednesday morning and was then put on a hormone drip which helped to strengthen the contractions. Gave birth to my daugter at 19:50 after which they started scanning the second baby to make sure that he didn't change positions since Keeley had created more space for him. But her behaved himself and remained head down. Jake was born 9 minutes later and really the whole thing went very smoothly. 10 hours from having my waters broken to giving birth - can't be bad:) x

Hiya Hun. I had a C-Section!

I wanted to try vaginally but I had the twins early. They were born at 29 weeks! I was in labour and dilating but nothing was really happening, I then caught an infection which led to septicaemia, I was then rushed to theatre for an emergency c section under general anaesthetic.. I was asleep but I had to have a blood transfusion!

I believe if you want to try natural then go for it. Its your experience and its your choice, Now I see that the C Section was right for me and I am glad that is how I did it. You can opt for one if you want I believe as I was given the choice..

I had 4 weeks to recover as my girls had to be kept in NNU! I dont know what its like to recover and have babies at home with you. By the time the kids got home I was very well rested and it was easier for me!

Thanks all for sharing your stories with me. Really appriciated xx

I had a c section at 34+6. We were trying for a vaginal but there were complications the day of. My son was not taking the contractions well and his heart beat kept dropping.

Hello there -

I had a C-section at 35+5... The doctor had recommended it all along given there were twins, and my age (38), and the fact that none of my sisters gave birth vaginally... It just all made sense to me and I was happy to sign up for the C. I will be honest, the idea of labor with twins scared me beyond words & I've never been much for pain... Not that the C-section recovery wasn't painful - it was for the first few days. But I recovered nicely and now 4+ weeks on I'm back to almost normal.
