I have a serious question. I apologize for the long post ahead of time guys.

I've had 2 csections. My first, I went to the hospital because I was so sick and couldn't keep anything in. Well it turned out my contractions were 2 minutes apart (I didn't notice). Anyways I had an issue with placenta previa that had absolved during my pregnancy but unfortunately became a problem again. It was confirmed with a sono and the doctor made the call to deliver via cs.

My second cs I had been having strong contractions on and off for over a week. I got admitted to l&d twice because we thought it was go time (I was trying for a vbac) anyways at a doctors appointment they asked if I had been having contractions. I was so fed up with the false alarms I didn't actually try to notice if I had any so they hooked me to the monitor and sure enough the contractions were every 3 to 5 minutes. When I was laying on the table I was surprised I hadn't noticed. My contractions were strong. since I had been having such strong contractions for over a week my doctor was afraid we were risking a uterine rupture so she made the call the deliver me that afternoon via cs. Obviously I wanted what was safest for the baby and myself so I didn't argue the decision but I was a little let down that I wouldn't deliver naturally.

So I'm pregnant again :) and this is going to be a csection delivery but what I want to know is do you have to schedule a date for surgery? Can you just let it happen when it's ready? Since this could be our last baby and I can't have the lo vaginally I don't want to rush it. I would love to go into labor naturally when my body and baby are ready.
please I would love any input and I enjoy reading your stories so don't be afraid to reply. Again sorry for the long post.

Also I had a vaginal delivery before my first csection. I had my daughter but I had to be induced at 36w because my amniotic fluid levels were too low. So I've never really experienced going into labor naturally. That's mainly why I want to just let it happen this time if it's possible

It is possible to wait to go into labour - if your doctor is willing and there are no risk factors. But, it will be more of an emergency c section. Seeing as you've been through two already I'm sure you have a good idea about what to expect and recovery and all that. I've heard a scheduled c section is much calmer and easier to recover from. But as this will be my first c section I don't know for sure.

After my mum had an EMCS with me, she then just booked one with my little sister. She said she loved having it booked, it was apparently much more relaxed and everyone was just chatting and happy. :)

If there are risk factors as to you giving birth, or if the surgeon has said straight off that you need a section because of risk or that you're unable to deliver vaginally then you'll need to have a section booked. PurelY because there is too much risk to you, baby and the hospital if something should go wrong.

If you can deliver vaginally and the surgeon has said you can, then they can wait and see if you go into labour naturally x

Thanks ladies :)

I have a doctor's appt this ne xt Monday so I do want to ask her if a vbac is even a possibility (though I doubt it). I would rather schedule the cs then because obviously I would prefer a calm atmosphere and mainly because my doctor would be the one doing it. I guess it really does just break my heart that this will most likely be the last little bean I bring into the world :(

I think it's just really up to your doctor. Each one seems to have different policies.
I'm going for a vbac so my dr is making me schedule a cs a week after my edd as back up in case I never go into labor on my own. I think if I was a preplanned cs, they would book it a week before my edd.

I scheduled a CS for DD because she was breech. However, my water broke a few days before, and we had her that night. If you know you'll be a CS either way, there are advantages and disadvantages to scheduling.

I really like knowing that my water had broken, and she was ready to come into the world. I didn't feel like I was rushing her!

However, my water broke about an hour after I ate dinner. So the hospital made us wait for several hours before the CS to make sure my food was digested. My labor wasn't hard, but it was very boring, and I nearly killed DH when he started eating cookies next to me. I can definitely see the advantage to having a scheduled time in that regard. :)
