Hi ladies. Congratulations on your bfps and here's hoping lots of h&h pregnancies.

My history is IF for two years with one early chemical when lines never got very dark but got bfp on Digi. Loss about 5 weeks. Then IVF when lines got strong quickly and ended up with my gorgeous DD. Bfp August 2015 but lines were still faint around 15 dpo but made it to 9.5 weeks before miscarriage. Now surprise natural bfp again on new years day with stronish lines from 11dpo...

So what I am wondering is whether strong lines early on might be an indicator of a successful pregnancy? I know that won't always be the case as so many factors come into play, but was just curious to see other people's experience with testing...

Thanks ladies :flower:

Hi Mrsmax, I don't think you can completely go on the strengths of the lines as every test is made with slightly different levels of dye so one could show strong and one weak. In my experience though, I've now had three pregnancys first I had good strong lines which resulted in my DD, 2nd pregnancy I didn't and it was well after period was late that I finally got a BFP, I did a digi test too and that showed 1-2 weeks but I should have been further along than that, anyhow I made it to 9+4 but sadly mc. This time I've had great strong progression lines and strong symptoms and so far everything is fine. I'll be 12 weeks tomorrow so fingers crossed.
So for me strong lines is definitely a good sign but I'm sure it's different for everyone. Hope all is ok xx

I used the same brand with both pregnancies and yes, my MC hpts darkened more slowly. My hcg increased incredibly quickly this time. Might just be a fluke, but that was my experience.

Thanks both. Sophie I agree all tests are different but in take at least 15 different tests per pregnancy so they should allow for that. Eg with booth miscarriages they were consistently lighter and it didn't matter what test I used. I really think there is something to it. It just makes sense really when docs rate hcg.... would love to do a study on it!!

Both times I've lost, the pregnancy tests were (relatively) irrelevant (i.e. late loss and then a twin loss with high hcg). I would assume, though, that you would notice the lines not changing much. That being said, how quickly should they darken?? I am terrified that mine aren't progressing well enough.

I've had three losses now and one successful pregnancy. With two of the losses the lines weren't progressing well or started to get obviously lighter, but the most recent one was perfect progression with the tests and I still ended up having a mmc found at just over 9 weeks, it took nearly two months after that loss to get negative tests too, they stayed dark for a long time even though I knew the baby was already gone. So good progression doesn't always mean things are going ok in my experience, and I wish it was just easier not to obsess over test lines at all.
