Am I the only one with this problem? I just moved to the states last week from the uk and the formula here (or at least the one we are using, similac) has a scoop that is twice as deep as the aptamil scoop I'm used to. Maybe I'm doing this wrong but I can never get the scoop level and evenly filled. It is kind of awkward. There are gaps where the powder clumps and doesn't fall in properly when I scoop it up. As a result I always worry I'll be making the formula too watery.

It works if I shake it in, but then I'd probably be overfilling it.

Is there a trick to this??? I feel really silly asking but I found the smaller aptamil scoop soooo much easier and I feel my scoops are now way less accurate because of the clumping problem. :( not a major problem I know but just annoying! Are there formula brands with single oz scoops?

What I do is fill the scoop with powder and the hit the scoops handle part on the can so any air "bubbles" make there way out from the little hole at the bottom of the scoop :)

I pretty much do what the PP said. I have only seen 2oz. scoops here.

Welcome to the US Lady Bee!

oh gosh! never realised there was a difference! hope you're loving the US hun! - can you not get aptamil imported from amazon? or just get 1oz scoops but double up to match the 2oz scoop that the box states? i always keep some scoop spoons extra as SMA has a tendency to just clog on the scoop...annoying!

Hope you're enjoying it chick and HTHs! :flower:

I have heard you aren't meant to tap the scoop on the side of the tin as it can compact the powder more and cause constipation. Could be wrong though, that is just what the formula company told me

Yeah this is what I thought too, that tapping compacts the powder. One or two taps is probably ok but if you keep tapping it has the same effect as pressing the powder down! Oh well I have decided to just ignore the air pockets and assume the manufacturers accounted for this as there is no mention of tapping or removing air pockets. Thanks for the advice all :)

maybbaby I am not sure if I can I import aptamil. The oz measurements aren't quite the same here either so I imagine the aptamil scoop would be slightly off (not a big deal for 1 oz but makes a difference over the whole day).
