I had an awful time with Avon, did one campaign and that was it, never again! The area manager type woman was a total nightmare. I started it, and then was offered a job in Bristol (I was in Falkirk, Scotland at that point!) so I was trying to contact her to say "I can't do this anymore, sorry, I'm moving." Could I get hold of her? No! Then I get taken into hospital (long story), so it really falls off my radar.
I get a snotty phone call from her saying that she doesn't have my order. I'm like "Yes, I know, here's why... I couldn't reach you at any of the numbers you gave me." I got some crappy excuse which I can't even remember now. Anyway, she's then like "OK no bother, that's fine, thanks very much, good luck in Bristol, bye now."
A few weeks later I get a letter from the Avon office saying that I owed them £30 odd quid for an outstanding order (or something like that). I phone them up saying "eh, what, I didn't take any orders!" and they work out that the manager woman placed the order herself, against my name, to make up her target figure!! But the nasty woman on the end of the phone says that it's still up to me to pay that £30!!! I was absolutely fuming, ended up bursting into tears of pure rage on the phone, and demanding to speak to someone higher up. That "wasn't possible" but she gave me an address to write to.
So I wrote a stinking letter, saying how disgusted I was at everything. About a week later I got a phone call from a lovely lady, apologising profusely, saying that the amount had been paid, and that she was so sorry about the hassle, that it wasn't how Avon like to do business.
Erf, that became a long story
The upshot is - I'd never do it again! Saying that, my best friend's Mum & sisters have been doing Avon for as long as I can remember, and they get on fine with it. I think if you stick to family and friends you'll probably have much more luck than if you go round houses
